did the migration go smoothly?
We're on the new server! Which I guess make it a success ๐
It did take hours longer than expected. Had the database load killed by docker when it used too much memory and had to start again (this was my fault, I had a resource cap on the container that I didn't remove before trying to do such a big job). Then it still took over 2 hours just to load the database. By this time is was just after 12am.
Next I had to do the pictrs database (that manages the images), which is a lot smaller. Was starting lemmy about 12:20am. But it didn't work. Lemmy started fine, but would couldn't access it.
Another 45 mins of troubleshooting, then @MadPsyentist@lemmy.nz spotted a giant clue and then we worked out it was a conflict and got it sorted, Lemmy came up about 1:10am.
Complicating things was that I had tried moving DNS name servers but that didn't go well. We are currently on Cloudflare's DNS for that, I'll try again as soon as I can work out what the issue was. It's the last thing needed to get us fully off Cloudflare.
