OP respects pronouns, we've come a long way from 2008

[–] disorderly@lemmy.world 57 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eh, it's always been a mixed bag over there. Like spaghetti but also rat poison.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

True. Avoiding /b/ and /pol/ helped.

We’ve regressed

There's usually at least one person every Trans Day of Rememberance murdered by a parent. I've attended a ceremony or read the names every year for over a decade. So yeah, fake and gay, but unfortunately it does hit to something real.

The best lies mange to somehow saddle a kernel of truth

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Anyways

Fake: anon has a friend

Gay: anon was hurt by an anti queer attack

didn't end with anon pressing charges that allow for civil charges to pay for more warhammer/lost spaghetti damages. in conclusion the post is :rubber_stamp: [Fake and Gay]

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You don't actually need to "press" a criminal charge to file a civil lawsuit for the parallel tort. If you've got the evidence, you've got the evidence.

[–] state_electrician@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Tort is such a silly word for a legal term.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

As if the rest of them aren't?

Law is a profession where people dress up in funny clothes (even powdered wigs, in some places!) and say pseudo-Latin at each other. The words aren't magical incantations, but they're close enough that sovcits think they are.

It is profoundly silly.

I'm pretty sure attempted poisoning is one of those where the state presses charges on your behalf no matter what.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Uh, pretty sure it's not pseudo-Latin, it's just Latin. A lot of those terms date back to legal proceedings in ancient Rome.

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Pretty sure we butcher the pronunciation, though. The Latin 'Caesar' was pronounced more like the German word 'Kaiser' than the modern 'Caesar salad,' for example.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, but calling it pseudo- is funnier.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Only if you pronounce it "sway-doe", rhymes with Play-Doh

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Pronounce the p

[–] Slab_Bulkhead@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

thanks Matt Lock.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Mom tried to set them up to take a murder rap.

[–] oldmanalex@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

[–] YaDownWitCPP@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago
