Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

The Times UK reports Colorado pig farmer John Long was at home when he got the message that Marian Morgan, a scammer who robbed $20 million from him and thousands of other investors through a Ponzi scheme, was being released from prison less than halfway through her 33-year sentence.

“It was not for good behavior or because she had paid her victims back,” reports the Times. “Morgan was being released because President Trump had commuted her sentence.”

This, reports the Ties, also released the convicted scammer from the restitution payments she owed her victims.

Long, an 80-year-old Trump voter, called the newly freed Morgan “criminally insane,” and warned she’s only “going to suck money out of somebody” else.

Crazy he can pardon them not only from jail but also from having to payback the victims? Wild lol

Every time I see a new Trump pardon I wonder what it would be like if a dem ran for president promising to pardon Luigi

Trump voters heartbroken

I call bullshit. One has to have a heart before it can be broken. Their angry stupid is just vaguely focused on themselves, like a particularly stupid dog angry at its own tail.

They've moved from, "I've got mine. Fuck you!" to "I had mine and Trump screwed me over so feel sorry for me. Fuck you anyway!"

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago

they do have one, its just all black hearted.

The victim, like others, was contacted by Morgan and her co-conspirators in 2006, who purported to be an exclusive group of financial advisers with an opportunity to invest money in Europe with huge returns within months at low risk.

Greedy and dumb, just like his Beloved Leader.

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 day ago

Why would they be heartbroken? They literally voted in a crook who scammed them of millions... Calling these people dumb is an insult to dumb people.

I'll have to find the source but I read that Trump has pardoned a number of fraud convicts whose criminal incomes, stolen from the American public, collectively total over one billion dollars... so only 50 times what this bitch did, already pardoned.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

You don't suppose these vile criminals paid off another criminal, do you?

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 16 points 1 day ago

The victims should sue in court. There is a line in the constitution about no civil trial being re-examined or retried by any court. Idk how that works with judges cancelling or reducing judgements from juries but the president doesn't have the authority to cancel a civil verdict, no one does, other than the judges upstream.

Have the day you voted for.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Seems karmic that people who voted for trump suffered.

"he's not hurting the right people"

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's obviously not as many as it should be, but let him keep chipping away at his support. Some of them are brainwashed, some of them are just slow, so it will take time but eventually they'll come to the conclusion on their own where it all leads.

[–] roofuskit@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Don't confuse a breif moment of criticism with them changing their mind about him.

[–] Hacksaw@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah these people all "hate" him, but they'll vote for him 1000x times before they vote for the Communist Democrats with their crazy healthcare for all and whatever else.

I wish the Democrats were even 1% as based as Republicans think they are.

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 11 points 1 day ago

You get what you voted for so cry me a fucking river!

[–] knobbysideup@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

I think of it as more of a smug arsehole grin.

[–] oyzmo@piefed.social 13 points 2 days ago

that man makes me want to 🤮

[–] manxu@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

Long, an 80-year-old Trump voter, called the newly freed Morgan “criminally insane,” and warned she’s only “going to suck money out of somebody” else.

See, that's why we need gendered pronouns. If Long hadn't said, "she," I would have totally thought he was talking about Trump.

[–] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I didn’t know that they had hearts to break. lol oh well, fuck ‘em. 😊

[–] III@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

"...again."

I assume that got cut off from the title.
