It is forbidden knowledge. Ask about it no more!

"If a PIECE will fascinate her..."

[–] Pringles@sopuli.xyz 11 points 3 days ago

I’m not a woman, but I will admit that giving me cheese gets you my full attention, if not outright devotion.

Does it have to be name brand rue, or can I use the generic store brand?

If she doesn't want him I'll take him, cheese is one of the ways to my heart.

He's got the right idea honestly.

[–] BandanaBug@piefed.social 45 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Cheese is expensive af. And tasty!

[–] Auster@thebrainbin.org 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Add jam or dulce de leche and the combo becomes a thing of dreams 🤤

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Add a piece of dark chocolate with chili pepper, everyone looks at you funny when you suggest it, but it's always the combo they make for themselves afterwards.

[–] Auster@thebrainbin.org 3 points 2 days ago

Guava jam, salami and provolone also go fantastic together. They hit the stomach like a bomb the first time, but it's easy to get used to too.

Does your sister live in Stardew Valley?

[–] fubarx@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I showed my wife this. Asked her what if I gifted her a wheel of cheese for our anniversary.

She said she would remarry me. But it would depend on the kind of cheese.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 3 days ago

An aged cheese the age of your anniversary would be a cool gift. But it would get very expensive very fast

[–] Defectus@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

When I worked in telecom, suppkier would always send candy or other crap by Christmas time. One supplier sent me a wheel if cheddar. Still remember this 15 years later. But I've forgotten every other supplier

[–] sirimeow@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I would 100% prefer getting potatoes and/or cheese instead of flowers. I don't like getting flowers.

[–] Honytawk@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago

How about these flowers?

[–] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 10 points 3 days ago

It's like 3 minutes if "aww they're so pretty" and then a week or two of watching them die

[–] moopet@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

I'd be ok with a flowering plant, something I can put in a pot or the garden and it'll live.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 days ago

He can afford to feed her. Clearly a catch.

...people always like to forget, how much in love relies on instinct.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 14 points 3 days ago

I'm a guy, and I generally go commando, but lemme tell you, panties would materialize on me just so they could drop

[–] voodooattack@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (4 children)

And just like that… late stage capitalist society winds back at hunter/gatherer tribal norms.

I plant the potatoes and wait until they flower out of spite.

(well, more accurately, because I have a small farm, but still some spite).

[–] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Damn thats not a cheap wheel of cheese. Date #2 on the table... next to the cheese

[–] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 days ago

Yeah flowers can be like 8-30€. That wheel of cheese is worth a whole fortune. A kg of really cheap cheese already goes for like 10€/kg.

My wife ordered it cheese -> potatoes -> flowers

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago

Marriage material. Cheese is my love language.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Ah, young romance. Actually, it's a good strategy to find out if she can cook. You'll never be sorry you married a good cook.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Reminds me of that high dude who bought 40 pounds of parmesan because it was mistakenly labeled as dirt cheap.

Back in the days when men used to try to charm me with flowers, I remained polite & grateful on the surface but LIVID on the inside because

If he really loved me he'd think about what things I actually need/want, and spend that precious money on something useful & thoughtful. Flowers are so ridiculously EXPENSIVE & USELESS then they DIE, so men who buy flowers are either wealthy & stupid, or poor & stupid. Financially irresponsible.

[–] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

They smell nice. And they look nice. For a week

Bro have you seen the price of cheese these days ? I almost felt like crying in front of the pitiful slice of comté costing 38€/kg in the store's fridge yesterday.

(Though this screenshot is a few years older than the inflation spike)

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago

Yeah I am going with the person who likes potatoes
