Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Summary

CBS’s 60 Minutes faced intense backlash from Trump allies after host Scott Pelley criticized Donald Trump’s cabinet picks, calling them unqualified and lacking experience.

Pelley highlighted Pete Hegseth (Defense Secretary), Matt Gaetz (Attorney General), Tulsi Gabbard (Director of National Intelligence), and RFK Jr. (head of the CDC) as controversial nominees, citing loyalty to Trump rather than qualifications.

The segment drew sharp criticism from Trumpworld figures like Steven Cheung, Elon Musk, and Charlie Kirk, who labeled it biased propaganda.

Some Democrats and Republicans have also questioned the viability of these nominations in Senate confirmations.

Ugh. What doesn't spark right-wing backlash? Those morons lost their shit because the Green M&M wasn't sexy enough.

[–] BrotherL0v3@lemmy.world 72 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Truth. We will be better off as a society when/if we stop giving a shit what they think.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 24 points 1 year ago (2 children)

start by depriving mainstream media your eyes. your attention is the most valuable commodity, and most media caters to the right because the left is addicted to being well informed. media outlets do not fear losing the left's eyes. and they've shifted their bias right enough that they're straight up no longer providing info, just a slightly center right perspective on certain events.

Right leaning stuff spurs viewership from both sides. The left gets outrage bait and the right gets "pwn the libruls" porn.

I'm so sick of american aristocracy running everything.

This statement is pure, distilled truth.

Right wing backlash means you're doing it right!

Clarity can easily be found in Nazi tears.

Fucking cry baby snowflakes.

[–] Nosavingthrow@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Those morons fell for a ploy to distract from a lawsuit against Mars over slave labor that was happening at around that time, and as a result, distracting US morons.

I'm not sure if trolling or not, but, Mars is an internationa confectioner who was found to be sourcing its cacao from unethical sources.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 4 points 1 year ago

Back in my day we had this thing called a joke. Trolling is malicious.

Don't give him ideas about where to deport all those people to.

"Quaid! Activate the reactor!"

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Really? I missed that one.

Tucker Carlson wanted to fuck them but he has a foot fetish and doesn't like their flats when they used to have heels.

Look it up :(

"News finally tells truth for once, gets backlash from people who believe in chem trails."

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hey, water vapor is a chemical.

[–] orbitz@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Maybe if we push out that cars produce chem trails they'll drive less. Oh technically breathing does too.... won't want to do much of that if you're against them.

I wouldnt have a problem if some fascists decided to stop breathing to "own the libs"

I saw a meme recently about boat chemtrails (the wake) leaving carbine monoxide in the water which I thought was hilarious, since they do.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 2 points 1 year ago

They should never have stopped telling the truth.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 72 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Don’t know or care who Steven Cheung is, but Elon Musk and Charlie Kirk are both white nationalist fascists, so if the segment upset them, then kudos to Scott Pelley.

[–] sfbing@lemmy.world 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

When Trump held a campaign event at Arlington Cemetery, and a soldier tried to stop cameras etc from going in, Steven Cheung is the one who shoved her aside, and later said that she was obviously suffering from some sort of mental episode.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 16 points 1 year ago

I see why Trump would like him. Ticked all the boxes.

[–] Blaubarschmann@feddit.org 10 points 1 year ago

Wasn't Cheung Trumps campaign manager or press speaker? Something like that

[–] Baggins@feddit.uk 3 points 1 year ago

You should. He's a very dangerous and devious bootlicker.

[–] poo@lemmy.world 68 points 1 year ago

Good lord, the right is filled with such spineless baby snowflakes.

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 66 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do Republicans have any facts to dispute in the reporting?

Or are they mad someone pierced the bubble they live in?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 year ago

I'm sorry, what now?

Republicans and facts? In the same sentence? Have you heen living under a rock for the past 30 years?

[–] SelfProgrammed@lemmy.world 38 points 1 year ago

If it can be destroyed by the truth, it deserves to be.

Lack of experience is the least of my worries with his cabinet picks. I'm more worried about these guys being so criminal and having their own agendas that trump had to bypass FBI checks to ensure they could get in to begin with

[–] AnotherDirtyAnglo@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean, if I were an opponent of the USA, I'd be celebrating. Putin and Xi accomplished the total and complete destruction of the USA by simply amplifying the worst voices. No shots fired, no military deployment. Osama bin Laden would be spinning in his grave if he weren't buried at sea.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

A russian funded facist fanboy is president. Again.

Cold War? Lost.

WW2? On brink of defeat, nazis ready to step in after trump.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 17 points 1 year ago

Poor poor MAGA cult you are going to have to put up with ridicule a little longer.
