I’d personally recommend trying to visit ur local Costco/walmart/bestbuy and see what deals (if any) they got on prebuilts and compare there prices.

Good call, I'll never miss a chance to get a good deal at Costco.
I bought a Lenovo Legion from Costco years ago and the power port died on (or maybe it was the day before) Thanksgiving. I filed a warranty repair claim and they sent a guy TO MY FAMILY'S HOUSE ON THANKSGIVING to fix it! He swapped the warranty part in after maybe 20-30 minutes (bad power board, normally takes a little longer but this guy was fast IMO).
I also gave him a $50 and a fresnell lens to help read serial numbers as a thank you because I used to be a field tech myself and I was blown away by how awesome the service was.
These days I use an Eluktronics Prometheus 17, which has been great (runs Bazzite like a champ) but I absolutely recommend buying through Costco (just stick to decent brands like Lenovo, MSI, etc. and do a little research to make sure the parts are OK).
No regrets since buying my Lenovo Legion little over a year ago. Mint ran fine out of the box, and I use it for everything, gaming included.
A Lenovo PC that runs Linux out of the box sounds amazing, I've heard those exist now and I'm glad they do. I've always been curious to try out Linux but have never wanted to go through the trouble of installing it.
I personally witnessed two lenovo legion laptops bought at the same time have pretty severe issues. One had a USB port fail, and the other seemed to have an issue with the SSD controller where it would flake out every 30 minutes causing a complete system crash, even after replacing ram and SSD.
They were both the same model, so maybe there was something specific to that, but considering bow much they cost and yet only lasted a year before encountering issues, desktops seem the safer long-term bet.
Honestly, these days I find it easier to set up linux than windows.
Yep! A few months ago I installed Windows 11 on my Surface laptop to update the firmware. It took 50mins just to install! After I updated the firmware, EndeavourOS (Arch) took 8mins.
