before the movie came out my sister won a radio contest to go to the premiere in LA. they paid for the flight, hotel, and tickets to Universal Studios. We saw Mel Gibson so that was neat I guess but the only thing I can remember was when we went to watch it (in a separate theatre than the celebrities) they gave us stale soda and the tiniest bag of popcorn that was also kinda stale. Movie was good though, I enjoyed it.
Still a solid classic movie, if maybe a little predictable/cookie cutter (in terms of overall plot devices). Childhood favorite for me.
Didn't care much for the sequel though.
Have you seen Babe (1995)? It's a family comedy about a talking pig that wants to become a sheepdog to avoid being slaughtered. James Cromwell delivers a great performance as Farmer Hoggett despite having very little dialogue. And, oddly enough, it was co-written by George Miller (of the Mad Max franchise.) OH! And Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, LOTR) plays a grumpy dog.
There's also a sequel, Babe: Pig in the City (1998). I think it's worth a watch but it's definitely a step down. It's very much a kids movie, whereas the first was entertaining for everyone.

I would suggest many of the Ghibli movies. Totoro and Ponyo are great for youngest kids. Howl's Moving Castle and Kiki's Delivery Service are excellent for a bit older.
Don't watch Grave of the Fireflies with young kids...😳

Princess Mononoke is better for middle to older teens.
Spirited Away I would say is at least young teen range.
All just depends on your kid's maturity.
Oh yeah we've watched a majority of the Ghibli movies. Ponyo, Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving castle are all her favorites. Awesome movies.
The Wild Robot, Migration, and Wall•E have been some recent hits in my house.
Hoppers and Coco getting rave reviews from my toddlers. Parents stamp too.
Paddington 1, 2, and 3. Although 2 is thematically the most similar and generally agreed to be the best
Wallace & Gromit "Curse of the Were-Rabbit" is excellent.
It's somewhat dark though - my daughter was afraid of it when we first watched it (she being around 6 or 7 at the time).

The Shaun the sheep movie - one of my all-time favorites and incredibly funny and well executed!

You might like the Zootopia movies also (called zootropolis now in some areas). They're good family fun and easily watchable for adults.
Yeah I've watched both 1 and 2 and she enjoyed them both (1 more than 2)
Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Spy Kids (and the sequels), and Home (2015)
Orion and the Dark
Hunt for the wilderpeople - rip Sam Neill a fun adventure movie with some funny and heartfelt moments, main character is performed by the same kid from Deadpool 2
Disney's Robin hood: probably my fav out of all the Disney animated movies, great soundtrack and character and animation
Speed racer: it's an action adventure movie with shots like anime so it has a really unique feel to it while still getting nostalgic for the original series, from the Wachowskis after the Matrix.
