I mean there's no win for Americans here. They did what they wanted with it and made off like bandits.

And the United States of America isn't big on justice so there won't be any.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

yep in a just world they'd be hanging four years from now

[–] stermy4u@lemmy.world 288 points 4 days ago (5 children)

He accomplished his goal of trashing all the agencies that were in the middle of investigating his businesses.

[–] RiverFox7@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

And putting backdoors on government software.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 179 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Also defunding arts, sciences, academia, and anything that might improve people's lives, and making minorities suffer more.

[–] PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 94 points 4 days ago

In addition, the exfiltration of data to foreign/other bad actors as well as building dossiers on all Americans. The pile of shit perpetrated is quite large.

And extracting a fuck tonne of sensitive data

[–] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 43 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

He also stole a fuck-ton of your data, from every agency possible.

It’s incredibly sad that they will never have consequences from what they did with this. Any functioning society will lock Musk and everyone up as soon as possible

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

You're asking too much here. I mean, just look at who's in charge.

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 days ago

This administration is extremely effective at getting things done. I don't think I've ever seen its equal as far as how many things they are doing. Unfortunately most of those things are to enrich the few and you can bet your ass there was a reason closing DOGE up so quickly done. Good luck finding out why though.

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 190 points 4 days ago (26 children)

At this point, if you drive a Tesla, I have a real hard time not thinking you like Nazis who hate freedom and minorities. 🤷‍♂️

At least if someone drives a brand-new Tesla. I can kinda sympathise a little bit with people who bought theirs a couple of years ago before Elmo's antics became really obvious and are now struggling to get rid of it.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 36 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (14 children)

I give a pass to most Tesla's because I don't know much about cars. The cyber dumpster drivers knew full well who he was before buying their Swasticars, and they get to see my social finger at every opportunity.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 4 days ago

Also, the cybertruck is objectively garbage on every front.

It failed at its original design, it failed at its current design, it failed at range, it failed at tow capacity, and more. It is objectively the worst vehicle in the sector it's trying to claim it is in.

Subjectively...fuck all of it.

Ugh yeah, I'm an Uber driver and it being a cheap EV that also qualifies for comfort rides would really make my life better but I just can't support the Nazi. I'm kinda jazzed about the slate truck, but I'm sure it's bad for leftists someway somehow. Living under the thumb of capitalism is tough

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 21 points 4 days ago

Hey, wanna say 🤝 for being principled even when money is on the line, unlike some other responses in this thread.

And I agree that the Slate looks cool af. 👍

They do this to finish wiping evidence before the midterms.

[–] theedqueen@lemmy.world 112 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Of all the fuckery they did (and it was a fuckton), I’m most distraught about them murdering USAID. So much suffering and death for the sake of being cruel.

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 40 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (5 children)

It didn't even make sense as a political move. I'd wager most MAGA folks had never heard of USAID or knew what they did, and it was at least helping the US' reputation on the world stage.

Obviously the real value is the good it was doing all over the world, but for the Trump admin that couldn't care less about that, it still made no sense to axe it.

[–] theedqueen@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Not knowing what a program did and cutting it anyways was DOGE’s MO. They don’t care. And the MAGA people won’t ever bother learning about how this affects everybody including themselves.

It made financial sense for them. They're looters.

This is precisely why Musk needs to prosecuted, and imprisoned for life, as well as his psychopathic minions. They are mass murderers.

[–] kyub@discuss.tchncs.de 43 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

They probably reached their goal. It was never about efficiency. That was just the PR spin to sell it to the public. It was about getting rid of pesky regulatory bodies which stood in the way of making more money. Especially those who hindered Musk's companies.

The USA is currently experiencing the end phase of capitalism: massive corruption turning into open corruption with an economic oligarch class fusing with the government, massive income gaps and problems for regular citizens, class and culture wars plus reappearance of fascism to keep the population busy with culture wars among themselves instead of uniting against the exploiters, and so on. But it just started in USA. It's already swapping over to other western democratic countries as well.

You becoming a neo-nazi by constantly being served right-wing propaganda on company-controlled social media channels is better for their business than if you were a neutral, critical thinker. It's why Twitter was worth the 40 billion for Musk. Not because he expects it to ever repay itself. But because he can produce more loyalists by influencing what the algorithm shows and hides for you. Nazis are great for them because they're busy fighting against other parts of the population while giving the wealthy class a free pass to do what they want. Which is more money, more influence, more exploitation.

[–] boomzilla@programming.dev 12 points 4 days ago

In addition he needed Twitter to get Trump elected in the first place as shown by Led By Donkeys.

[–] TargaryenTKE@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago

IT WAS STILL HERE??? I thought that monstrosity was put down back when Trump and Musk had their little lover's quarrel

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 70 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Well at the least the US deficit is now less than it used to be right? ... RIGHT??

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 49 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

"Did you reduce the federal deficit?" the attorney asked.

"No, we didn't," Nathan Cavanaugh responded

...

“I think a person can have enough judgment from reading books and being well-informed outside of traditional experience to make judgment calls about obvious things like a grant that literally lists DEI in its description,” Nathan testified.

"What books?" the attorney asked

"There were no books,” Cavanaugh said.

Source - where I actually learned about it

If it weren't so depressing this would be some of the funniest shit I have ever seen. As it is, it's still pretty funny, seeing these clowns have to (fail to) justify their choices to real, serious people.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The armed guards in the lobby of the first agency they raided should have shut down the DOGE Pirates right there in that lobby with extreme prejudice. That's the very reason they carry guns. Instead, they just let them in.

Then we could have fought it out in court, like we should have.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Turns out the U.S. definitely is not the home of the brave.

[–] OctopusNemeses@lemmy.world 23 points 4 days ago

The conspiracy to destroy American institutions happened in broad daylight.

[–] wasabi_noir@lemmy.zip 56 points 4 days ago

Bunch of fucking murderous pieces of shit. They all deserve to be publicly beaten within an inch of their lives. Then they deserve to be denied medical assistance. I hope they all drown in baby shit.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 48 points 4 days ago

It ain't over until members of DOGE and Musk have been put to sleep. They will just do this again, when the Regime needs vandals to do the dirty deeds.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

he got what he needed from it

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

SpaceX contracts, and 17 NHTSA investigations on Tesla dropped.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 30 points 4 days ago

They made their final downloads of our data.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 40 points 4 days ago

There is no justice until this ratfucker is hauled off, imprisoned, and everything he's done needs to be fixed.

He does not deserve his freedom and humanity can't withstand it.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Now we need to doxx them all and hunt them down.

[–] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 4 days ago

I hope this doesn't mean USDS shuts down. I wanted to apply there assuming it would return back to its software development roots.
