Ukraine has, almost single-handedly, changed the nature of war on planet earth. The days of huge land wars that use artillery followed by tanks is basically over. Big vessels, big planes, big troop concentrations are basically big targets for cheap drones now.

The Russian people are slowly waking up to the consequences of their shithead leader Putin's pointless war.

Everyday the same news and I couldn't be happier about it.

The allies bombed Berlin for something like a hundred days in a row towards the end of the war. I wonder if Ukraine has something similar in mind?

Honestly, Ukraine is being a lot more humane than the allies were. Ukraine isn't carpet bombing entire cities. Of course, they have a 80 years of technological progress on their side. Nobody in WW2 could pinpoint strike a refinery or factory like they can today.

Also, you can't bomb someone into submission, and striking civilian targets is basically a waste of ammo as well as morally reprehensible.

Yeah, that type of warfare in the social media age would collapse their support practically overnight.

Sure you could pinpoint strike, that's what dive bombers ( Stuka f.e.) or Frontline (A/B26,A20,B25) /fighter(p47) bombers were for

Well, they did announce a while ago they were going to do 40 days of "long-range sanctions"

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 3 points 17 hours ago

Very biblical actually. Forty days of pestilence etc.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 7 points 19 hours ago

Ukraine said they'll do a 40 day campaign, then ask Russia to talk seriously on August 4.

It would probably be successful at this point. Provided Putin pulls a Hitler.

[–] loutr@sh.itjust.works 3 points 20 hours ago

Well there's no way Ukraine marches on Moscow so that would be up to the Russian people

The news article seems to be a day old
