Full Report: From Vanity to Insanity: How the White House Cheated the American People Out of Their 250th Birthday.

Today, House Natural Resources Committee released a new 55-page report following months of investigative work by Committee Democrats exposing how Donald Trump hijacked what was supposed to be a unifying, non-political celebration of our country's 250th birthday and made it all about him – his vanity projects, his political and religious agenda, his business ventures, and his cronies who gorged on public funds under cover of a shadow corporation shielded from public scrutiny.

Hey look, he's doing that thing you all already knew he was doing!

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 38 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

This sternly worded letter will certainly do him in this time.

Reply below with a 'tut-tut' to do your part for justice. Do it for America!

Maybe we should all bring in our little "No" signs to hold up in silent protest. Oh and coordinate our outfits to display our displeasure.

[–] BinGoose@lemmy.zip 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Can my "We should be at brunch" sign come too?

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago

It'll fit right in! Make sure to wear your "I dissent" pins, too!

[–] myster0n@feddit.nl 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Don't be so harsh. I believe he has learned his lesson.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 5 points 8 hours ago

I’ve submitted orders for Trump coin at 15% above market price to apologize for OP.

I'm hoping that the recent elections of Democratic Socialists help push the centrist Dems to get off their ass, stop relying solely on donor money, and actually govern for their constituents.

But we'll see.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 hour ago

Some, like Schiff and Raskin, embraced the new Democrat attitude during the Biden term, but maybe this new wave of Socialists will inspire the rest.

And those that don't get on board with the Progressives, like those Capitalist DINOs who were yapping earlier this week, will stand out, and we'll know who to ruthlessly primary in their re-elections.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world -4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Should they stop condemning the wrongdoings of the bad guys? Why are you out here clowning on people for doing what they’re supposed to be doing?

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 9 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Because they're clowns. Beholden to their pocketbooks more than the American people.

And we are soundly rejecting them by electing so many Democratic Socialists. There will be more to come, too.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world -2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

So your logic is - that because these people don’t have proper values, that them attacking The Bad Guys deserves your derision?

Wild, but ok whatever

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh it's an "attack" to post a strongly worded letter now?

On second thought, that line was a little catty. Edited it out.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

All you can do is deflect due to my word choice

Very telling

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, I already explained that I think we should vote out these people that don't have proper values and replace them with representatives that actually work for the people, but you didn't like my answer.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

You attacked my word choice, then edited it out when you knew you realized you behaved in an extremely ugly way.

Hope you can find ways to still be proud of yourself.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of this GIF lately…

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago
[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 hours ago

Cry harder, my goodness. It was a little catty, but I did edit it out almost immediately. It was not extremely ugly hahaha

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 3 points 8 hours ago

The red hats claim you know he's honest because he already has money therefore he isn't in it to enrich himself. I mean, he donated his salary guys! IDK how you fight that kind of stupid.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 7 hours ago

Yeah but Hunter Biden something something Burisma

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 19 points 9 hours ago

There's a simple reason Trump acts like a cheap crook.

When he was working with the New York Mafia the real bosses kept their distance, because they knew he was a loudmouth weakling who'd never kept a secret.

Instead, they'd send low level goombahs to run him. Mooks who thought ripping off change machines at a laundry made them smart.

A Michael Corleone, or even a Tony Montana, would have extorted $50 billion out of the Saudis on Inauguration Day 2017.

[–] marxismtomorrow@lemmy.today 16 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Oh no!

So still no plan to actually remove him then. And still no effective plan for 2028 besides Trump lite or the wine mom that has never won a single vote in a primary.

Oh, well. I guess fascism won't be voted out today.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 13 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I am going to fucking lose it if Harris is the nominee again.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 2 hours ago

She won't be. She won't even get close. By the time we get to that point, the Progressives will be flexing their muscles, demanding punishment for MAGA and Billionaires, promising forward movement on progressive issues, and trash-talking weak, cowardly corpo-establishment MAGA DINOS like her.

The nominee might not be a Progressive, but Progressive influence will force the other candidates to adopt Progressive leaning policies. Harris, and other firmly established Dem losers won't be taken seriously. The era of Democrat smugness about losing is OVER. Nobody is interested in listening to those losers anymore.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Harris was nominated? I thought she was anointed.

[–] Reddfugee42@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

In private organizations that can make their own rules, and change those rules whenever and however they feel like it, it's hard to tell the difference

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago

Is Musk not sharing? I thought he scraped all of the data.
