Biden refusing to hold anyone accountable is the only reason Trump's back in office.

Fuck him and anything he has to say, even if it's a broken clock momment

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 35 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

i mean i 100% agree, but if the choice is between biden and trump....

granted, i would vote for a moldy discarded scone from starbucks in the trash rather than trump

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

So would I, I've literally only cast one general presidential ballot for someone I wanted, and that was a quick disappointment.

The point is: not enough other people will

It's an obvious enough point even DNC voting members realized it, that's why they pivoted back to the focus being on getting votes and not just raising money and counting on being "the only other option".

Literally anyone with a D by their name is "the only other option" so this time we're gonna try a fair primary to see who voters like best instead of shoving shit down everyone's throats and complaining when they don't thank us.

Yeah. The only person who could have prevented this, saying that he knew Trump was a corrupt loser just pisses me off even more. You fucked over the entire country because you were afraid to hold rich pedos accountable

He never got over his first lost in the 80s.

At first, Biden was regarded as a strong candidate. In September 1987, however, reports emerged that he had plagiarized a speech by the British Leader of the Opposition and Labour Party Leader, Neil Kinnock. Allegations that Biden had engaged in plagiarism during law school and had exaggerated his academic record soon followed, and Biden withdrew from the race later that month.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden_1988_presidential_campaign

Biden's campaign also hurt Dukakis, because it was the same neoliberal playbook the Clinton's later used.

He saw being Obama's VP as a slap in the face, so when the oligarchs and Hillary told him he could be an empty suit president, nothing was going to stop him.

I'm honestly still shocked someone got him to drop out of 2024. I think they just legit told him "you can't run, sorry" over and over and his brain is so mush he just eventually went with it. He's a dick, but there needs to be investigations into the last three administrations and all the elder abuse that our presidents have been victim of in the last decade, because otherwise the people who orchestrated get off with it.

We desperately need to get back to actual presidents again

It's not the only reason Trump's back in office. You should also consider

  • Biden's complete capitulation to Isreal after Oct. 7
  • No Democratic primary where whoever ran would have had to make a positive case for the future of the country
  • Failing to take hold of any narrative, capitulating to the Republicans on every issue from immigration to healthcare to human rights.
[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not talking about how Biden/Kamala could have won.

They'd have 100% lost to any none maga opponent. And a cynic would say that's why his handles refused to hold trump accountable. Which makes sense because that's how trump became the president in 2016, they were overconfident because it worked in 2020, so they rolled the dice and lost again.

The silver lining is Kamala losing meant the DNC voting members had (and took) a chance on someone who runs fair primaries and supports whoever gets to the general.

We know it's different because he's been hemorrhaging money from the "victory fund" that literally started all of this back to the state parties the money was stolen from over the past decade.

That's a huge advantage, we've been running every state Dem office at campaign levels for 18 months straight and will continue to do so till the next presidential election.

The money is being used instead of hoarded for the next neoliberal candidate.

[–] MajinBlayze@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Oh yeah. I'm with you on all of that. Just saying that the mechanics by which Biden, and the Democrats under his leadership at large, have fucked us goes way deeper than the failure to prosecute the orange turd.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Biden running for a 2nd term is the reason we have Trump. Fuck that guy.

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 49 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Awww c'mon, Jack! You had your chance to do something about it, and ya blew it! No joke.

[–] TheRiskiestBiscuit@reddthat.com 12 points 2 weeks ago

Buncha malarkey if you ask me.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 44 points 2 weeks ago (14 children)

Maybe if he was corrupt you could have directed your employee, Merrick Garland, to lift a fucking finger, rather than to play dead for 4 years. Except you didn't, did you? You are the worst democrat failure in our lifetimes in terms of meeting the moment except maybe Schumer and Jefferies, and bitter too little too lates are all we get to show for it.

Never forget SCOTUS handed him the power to do anything he wanted in the course of being president. Instead he sat around obsessed over continuing his campaign despite internal polling showing him losing to Trump by Reagan-like numbers.

There is no version of events based in reality that makes this old fuck not a massive narcissistic loser, 2/3 of what he's whining about. He's not worse, but he damn sure ain't the guy we should have entrusted to fix the problem.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Biden is a piece of shit, but remember everyone in his administration was aware his brain was mush and covered for it so they could make unsupervised decisions, most likely for bribes or personal agendas.

Everyone involved in White House administrations since Obama left office need blackballed for life, and it's not even like they were great. They should be the furtherest right the Dem party goes at best.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I see no evidence of bribes, but you ar3 obviously right about personal agendas. These agendas are why the appointees recommended by Bernie like Lisa Khan were able to inact substantial beneficial changes and Biden was able to take credit for it, but unsurprisingly often did not. Both because mushy brain and never having known that's what his people were doing. His attention was available though, as evidenced by his behavior around Israel and Gaza, it just wasn't a good thing to have when you're trying to achieve positive change.

You are incorrect about barring them all. Many were very good nominees. I agree about Blinken and Garland though, fuck them both.

My favorite is saying we still need a Republican party in a speech. That cemented for me nothing would change under him to help and that we were significantly fucked.

And who's fault is this old man? Who's job was it to prosecute the domestic terrorist not hand him the reins!?

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

His job was only to step down after one term like he said he would. Then maybe we could have had a normal election. Instead we got our current timeline. There should have been no question, no debate, … he should have never tried to not step down.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

If Nixon had been properly prosecuted, maybe we could have avoided all this

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Who's job was it to prosecute the domestic terrorists

It's not the president's job to dictate to the justice department or courts who to target.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago

It is however the president's job to appoint an AG who won't slow roll prosecuting a fascist so he can retake power.

[–] Fluke@feddit.uk 4 points 2 weeks ago

Doesn't seem to be hindering the cunt occupying the big house at the minute.

If ONLY there was SOMETHING Biden COULD have Done during his 4 Years as President AFTER Trump stole a Bunch Of Classified Documents after Enriching himself in the Office after sending his Supports to Attack the Capitol! If ONLY there was SOMETHING Biden could have Done!

And he didn't do a thing to stop him.

[–] trackball_fetish@lemmy.wtf 10 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah that's cool and all but why the hell didn't you do your job?? Y'all just ran off with your money and said "oh well, can't stop the oligarchs"

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah. I know. Why the fuck did you allow him to take power again, asshole?

[–] Bristlecone@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago
