If the left did a Jan 6th then these "lesser evils" would be fighting and crawling over themselves be part of the firing squads.

Im just over economic growth, we don't need anymore economic growth. We make enough food housing and medicine to take care of everyone twice over. There's zero benefit to more economic growth, it's just more money for billionaires to waste labor on luxuries like insanely huge party yachts and weddings in fairy tale settings.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The democratic party is technically more than one party all shoved into one, who knew? Just like the republican party.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 8 points 2 hours ago

Maybe Republicans 15 years ago.

Trump has cleaned out any Republican dissenters.

If you don't kiss the orange cock, he sends death threats your way.

[–] Verdorrterpunkt@feddit.org 6 points 8 hours ago

There's a long history of rich assholes who support democracy siding with rich assholes who don't support democracy over democracy supporters interested in social change.

Goes back at least to the mid-1800's

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 22 points 13 hours ago

I bet they keep this pledge, they'll be like "sorry minimum wage is still 7.50 in 2030, BUT we did oppose that Mamdami guy! We promise to raise minimum wage by 2040, super swear believe it!

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 11 points 13 hours ago

"We promise America we will continue to make sure our donors can fuck you all as hard and rough as they want."

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 34 points 16 hours ago (4 children)

Here are the MAGA DINOS that just sacrificed their careers. Vote against them at every opportunity.

Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) — Co-leading the initiative

Rep. Adam Gray (D-CA) — Co-leading the initiative

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ)

Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV)

Rep. Don Davis (D-NC)

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez Jr. (D-TX)

Rep. Laura Gillen (D-NY)

Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-OR)

Rep. Kristin McDonald Rivet (D-MI)

Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-NH)

Jessica Killin (candidate)

Marlene Galán Woods (candidate)

Bobby Pulido (candidate)

Those last three shouldn't win. Don't vote MAGA, vote 3rd party. If any of the rest survive their primary or elections, and the Dems take the majority, they should be shunned, and prohibited from holding any positions of authority on committees or anything else. Their careers are over.

[–] peripheralneuropathy@lemmy.world 2 points 45 minutes ago* (last edited 44 minutes ago)

The narrative framing is coordinated now that democrats "allowed" fascism by not controlling their opposition party's secret agent spy democrats??? ...just like how democrats were the party fighting FOR slaves in the civil war because of cross party corrupting co-option turn-coating exactly like this but just the reverse now? Cool cool.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Small correction: The Democratic Socialists are the "DINOs".

These listed are actual party-line Democrats.

[–] anhydrous@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 28 minutes ago)

26 palms that now have more money than most of those reading this thread

[–] pirate2377@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Unfortunately, unless you can get enough people on board that surpasses the number of MAGA, a vote for 3rd party might as well be a vote for MAGA. I don't see how it'd end any different compared to the 1912 Presidential Election. I could be wrong though, maybe Trump has pissed off enough people to make 3rd party viable

[–] Lyrl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago

I hope ranked choice voting continues to make inroads in the US. Massachusetts and Alaska now have it for many statewide elections, and as more people are exposed to it hopefully the part of the opposition that is rooted in unfamiliarity will recede.

Being able to express a first choice for a third party, and then rank a second choice of the lesser evil of the major parties and have it count has the potential to reshape campaigning and voting behavior.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I’ve been hearing that argument for a handful of decades and the Democrats still haven’t changed. When do we say enough is enough and I won’t keep kicking the football Lucy is holding for me?

Exactly we've been hearing that for 40 years now at least and every election cycle dems move farther right right behind the republicans.

[–] marxismtomorrow@lemmy.today 18 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Liberals will always side with fascists before they side with communists, as fascism doesn't threaten their power.

There was one time they didn't, and the rest of the libs haven't forgiven them

[–] SalamiDommie@lemmus.org 6 points 14 hours ago

Threaten it? It gives them more...

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 13 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

capitalists gonna capitalism

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 1 points 42 minutes ago

Criminals gonna crime. FIFY.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 28 points 18 hours ago

Bill Clinton named an airport after Ronald Reagan, the guy who fired something like 10,000 FAA air traffic controllers for wanting to strike.

Biden told the rail road engineers who were almost literally begging to be treated like human beings they couldn't strike, here's more money you don't have any time to spend, and kiss my ass because "I am the pro-union" president. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_United_States_railroad_labor_dispute

Newsom pushed through a age verification law. How can that work unless it is a national login page? Reddit, imgur, lemmy/piefed, and pretty much everything else would require a digital bouncer at the door because none of this is designed to keep a tiny fraction of the countries total population from being psychologically scared like all the rest of us have been.

Establishment Democrats have been enabling the Republicans for decades.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Makes much more sense how we got here when you realize the Democrats haven't been that different from Republicans.

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 15 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

They push the exact same neoliberal policies, they just act slightly nicer to gay people while they do it.

Fascism with a pride sticker.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

It's like those two managers at work. One is a sweetheart, and everybody wants to be on their team. The other is an insufferable sonuvabitch that makes every minute at work miserable, and nobody wants to be on his team.

But make no mistake, despite their total opposite approaches, they both have the same job - to advance the corporation's agenda. Ultimately, they both have the same objective.

That's Rebublicans vs Democrats.

Yo, what the fuck? That's just straight up treason against half the country.

[–] CoolSouthpaw@lemmy.world 16 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

What a bunch of cunts. Why don't they fight Trump this hard?

[–] optimisticturtle@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago

The Senate Dem leader Chuck Schumer kowtows to this fictional family he invented who he admits are MAGA supporters (that is when he isn't putting America behind Israel). So the voters who elected this stupid fuck come third, at best. The rest of the Dem leadership seems to be fine with this ideological cuckoldry of playing to lose. I really do wish we had a viable third party to work with and could be rid of these clowns.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Because he has enough policies that align with them that they don't actually hate him.

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago

Isn’t that just nuts? Like, boy I’m against his baby killing policy, but I sure do like moderate tax cuts.

[–] CoolSouthpaw@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

I know. What fucking pieces of shit. All of them.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 16 hours ago

They told you, they're "Capitalists." Seemed real proud of it, too.

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 15 hours ago

This is frustrating but not surprising. Progressives and Democratic Socialists have been the red-haired stepchildren of the Democratic Party since Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. (Right after AOC won her primary, the DCCC changed its rules to deny support to other Democratic Socialist candidates. They were later pressured to revert the policy change.)

But we've already seen in the last decade evidence of active capture of the Democratic party and its institutions. Corporate lobbyists really prefer officials who are soulless and obedient and would rather get super wealthy than serve the public.

Sadly, it's the same neoliberal disease that infects all of the industrialized world, which factors into why authoritarianism and even fascism are gaining traction in those nations as well.

The Democrats may not be effective in taking back power, but if they do, we have to remake the entire system to address corruption, the influence of money, and to create social safety nets stronger than before. If we appease the capitalists and neoliberals even a little bit, then we'll be right back here again with some Trump-like figure in power and the Heritage Foundation wrecking the country's institutions all over again.

Fuck all of them. I hope they all get primaried to hell.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 34 points 23 hours ago

Every single one of them supports big corporations over people

[–] sarcasticsunrise@lemmy.world 9 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Get got, Gottheimer. What a shithead

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 19 hours ago

Yeah, not at all surprised to see him on the list tbh.

He's consistently on the wrong side of history whenever an opportunity presents itself.

He described himself as "socially liberal, fiscally conservative, and passionately centrist"

🤮🤮🤮

"Vote blue no matter who!"

People are voting for blue candidates who promise to do good things and not do bad things.

"Over my dead body they are!"

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 50 points 21 hours ago (6 children)

There’s always a part of that phrase that gets left out

“Vote blue no matter who…. during the general election

Prior to that. Primary the hell out of anyone that isn’t progressive. Change the party from the bottom up. And guess what, you’re starting to see that actually happen and it scares the establishment. Let’s keep it going.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 20 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

That’s actually started in a way.

Hilarious that candidates are being endorsed by the mayor of New York.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 13 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

New York City has a population greater than all but twelve states. It's like if the governor of Virginia were a wildly popular national figure and started endorsing primary candidates.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 7 points 15 hours ago

Yeah that makes it make sense.

Anyway, it’s good, because the bloke stands for something decent and it is reps like him who will pull the country out of its problems if that’s possible.

Remember their names when they try to beg for a vote.
