Iran's leaders promised him hotels in Tehran. Same thing Netanjahu promised him in Gaza.

That's not something that can be ELI5. That's like just our opinions, man.

The time has come when you need to explain why the world is functioning the way it is to a 5 year old.

That's called accountability !!

Sure kiddo, but sometimes grownups don't know all the answers. I can try to explain simple and predictable things like time dilation due to relativistic speeds, but explaining Trump's decision would require full knowledge of the CIA and the US military, a doctorate in international relations, economics, and psychiatry.

And even with all that, you would still be guessing.

I am not suggesting that Trump knows all of this, but weird as he is, he has an access to all of that (in form of reports, advisors and assistants and so on), and has his own agenda that we can only assume

Oil reserves got low enough that the stock market was about to react. He's only capable of looking at short term consequences and running out of oil reserves would have an obvious, immediate effect.

I thought he was more enthusiastic about the World Cup. So he simply decided to put the war to an end, meeting his demands half way.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

He didn’t. He’s stalling for time so he can get a new carrier group to the gulf. Zionists won’t let peace happen, they want Greater Israel at all cost.

Also, he must keep the news pointed away from the Epstein Files, especially before the midterms.

[–] SPRUNTnsfw@fedinsfw.app 7 points 2 days ago

It's all a distraction from the Epstein files.

Isn't the USA big enough for them ??

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He was pressured to do so by his oligarch friends, because his war was ruining too much of the global economy (for the oligarchs not in the energy or weapons business).

This definitely makes some sense.

That means, the world is run by a single cartel, which has got limbs like octopus ??

The Bibi/Trump breakup, he doesn't have the public support to actually fight the war in a way that he can potentially win, more inflation means he'll lose his base, farmers need fertilizer, the gulf states didn't actively participate, the USN needs its Bahrain gas station.

[–] TheViking@nord.pub 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What does that mean ?? The gulf states didn't actively participate ??

[–] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They didn't actively fight in the war

[–] TheViking@nord.pub 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You had expected them to fight ??

[–] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't know who you is, but I'll wager that the planners thought that once Iran started striking their infrastructure they'd fight. Iran, Israel, Saudi, and the UAE have been fighting each other through proxies for quite a while.

The US didn't have a definable end so so planners had no way to really plan this the way they historically would.

[–] TheViking@nord.pub 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The states you mentioned belong to the Middle East. Why they fight and how they fight is entirely their business.

My question is, what business had Trump in continuing the fight after Netanyahu sparked off the whole thing ??

The fall out wasn't very pleasant, at least not where l live, even though l live far away from the Middle East.

We've been talking war with Iran for 25 years, usually .gov comes to their senses this time they didn't.
