Hmph! I prefer my tyre dust to be organic. >:(

[–] woelkchen@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

Tires made of natural rubber actually exist.

[–] wabafee@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago

Then you gotta go to the dump you silly, that's where tires grow.

If there ever was a single image that defined Boomers, this would be it. This is the world they built.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 2 points 7 hours ago

That is an inherently American picture though.

[–] toddestan@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago

The so-called "Greatest Generation" also built a lot of this shit.

Everywhere is Ohio. There is no escape.

[–] YoSoySnekBoi@kbin.earth 12 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

Eh, there's a lot of this in Ohio for sure, but as someone who lives here I think people forget how much nature there is too. I've worked in several environmental conservation jobs and there's a lot of truly beautiful places here.

Examples:

Mohican State Park

Gorman Nature Center

Strouds Run State Park

Hocking Hills State Park

Miami University Natural Areas

[–] socsa@piefed.social 2 points 1 hour ago

Even New Jersey has nature though. What people want are sustainable and walkable urban landscapes to live in, with protected natural landscapes nearby to visit. Being mostly empty space spotted with strip malls is not pleasant.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Imagine having to drive to an enclosed area where people specifically protect nature to experience nature...

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

🙈 this doesn't jive with my meme-centric world view!

[heckin heck that's gorgeous]

[–] YoSoySnekBoi@kbin.earth 5 points 15 hours ago

LOL fair, just doing my part to raise awareness! You'd be shocked how many people live right next to places like this and don't even know they exist

Whats the opposite of liminal space..

[–] WhiteOakBayou@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

It's gross but I think the stroad is still liminal space as it is between the origin and destination (defined places) for most of the people pictured.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

Murican space

It's been a problem since we starting arranging life for cars over life for humans, so probably all the way back to when gasoline was $0.24 a gallon...

[–] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 2 points 15 hours ago

well it's fucking Ohio so why would you want to touch anything there.
