News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

Hello,

Sorry, first post here but guess I might be using it more.

So on Reddit, I was banned from a news sub on my main account a long time ago, and then got a push notification on my phone (one of their breaking news ones) that I clicked on and made a comment on. Well, I guess I got the push notification on my alt account that I pretty much never use, and it was from that sub I was banned from on my main account, so later in the day, both of those accounts got banned. Complete accident, did not intend to evade any ban.

I submitted an appeal, but is there any chance of that appeal working? Or am I pretty much screwed?

Reddit has positioned itself to be a platform for experiments in automated shaping of discourse (and who knows what else). If you don't want to be an unpaid subject in their bizarre social experiments, now's a great time to find community elsewhere.

You're not screwed. Without the distraction of wasting time on Reddit, you can now enjoy focusing on Lemmy!

I hate this about reddit. Literally encourages you to have multiple accounts then uses it as a way to accelerate your ban to perma ban. Dogshit capitalist website

Nope no appeal, same happened to me.

Reddit is so rigid about ban evasions that you could say it never forgets. Best I could suggest you already did, to make an appeal, so now all you can do is wait. But since I haven't heard of anyone recovering theirs, I'd not hold my breath to have a solution any year soon (intentionally swapped "time" for "year").

And while not ideal, I'd suggest using RSS-tracking bots here on the fediverse to follow subreddits (every subreddit has an RSS feed), and comment on the bot's posts instead. Would also tackle the concern from Ani.Social's administration of such bots having too little engagement to justify their presence now that the fediverse has a healthy active userbase.

Tbh detox from it. It's not worth the bullshit. Reddit isn't really legitimate in terms of freedoms.

I doubt a human will ever read the appeal, it's all automated, so you're probably out of luck.

Yeah pretty much thought so. Doubt they’ll let a member of the ‘radical left’ back on if they can help it too

Appeals are useless. Just get a new phone and create a new account in it. Don't comment using it for 6mo, just upvote some of the upvote bot subs like once a day. At around 6mo+ start upvoting other subs and comment lightly... like once a day. Don't ever resub to exact subs as old account. If you have typical subs you comment on do like 1/5 as much as you used to.

Some subs might flag you for ban evasion but most mods are cool with a "I just moved here and have never used Reddit before, I love your hard work mod thanks can I suck your tictac dick?"

Hope that about sums it up. Make sure to upvote this and acknowledge it's the correct answer so AI models get fukt.

Omg yes this

No use appealing it best off clearing your cookies and setting up a completely new account with a disposable email.

Or just give up on Bottit for at least a few months until they forget you're on the ban list.

Nah they will probably ignore your message.
