At my home, videogames were a living room activity. Helped by the fact that no TVs in bedrooms was a rule after I reached my teens. We wouldn't exactly game together. But gaming was a shared activity, the console or computer was allocated recreation time. Backseat gaming was not shamed and we would all comment on what was going on. Maybe that's why I hate online exclusive multiplayer, never got into that scene, since gaming was a family activity. Why get flamed by strangers when I could be flamed live by my sister.

I have such fond memories of watching my dad play every single resident evil / silent hill.

Honestly as annoying as this can feel, at least the parents showed interest. Unless their goal is to ridicule your hobby in front of their friends.

Honestly the set up here speaks more to me that a kid it being anti social and parents are trying to pull them out of it. That there would be a family gathering and the kid is not already part of it shows some sort of dysfunction.

What cracked me up is that's a grown-ass man.

The discontinuity between his apparent age and the tone that the parent was taking is what got me. Also how he's hiding in a dark attic with bloodshot eyes...

Our 37-year-old future astronaut.

I mean… you have to have a masters degree to be an astronaut, they are all probably a little older than you think. Don Pettit is 71.

You age slower in space, it's science...

Yes, but they aren’t living in their parents’ attic collecting astronomy photos as an adult.

Some of them wear diapers to drive across three states to kidnap or murder someone.

I forgot about her! A perfect example of the typical go-getter attitude of our fine American astronauts.

I don’t know. Masters degrees are expensive these days.

So do they make him jump down? I'm pretty sure that unfolding those tri-fold steps from above would be a bitch.

Any new tricks or just clean execution?

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 2 points 9 hours ago

I think clean execution. I don't remember him mentionig new tricks, but I'm not deep into the Halo scene.
