At my home, videogames were a living room activity. Helped by the fact that no TVs in bedrooms was a rule after I reached my teens. We wouldn't exactly game together. But gaming was a shared activity, the console or computer was allocated recreation time. Backseat gaming was not shamed and we would all comment on what was going on. Maybe that's why I hate online exclusive multiplayer, never got into that scene, since gaming was a family activity. Why get flamed by strangers when I could be flamed live by my sister.

I have such fond memories of watching my dad play every single resident evil / silent hill.
