Why is it always Argentina?

[–] Smaile@lemmy.ca 1 points 38 minutes ago

hes leaving before someone takes a shot at him like some of his fellows.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

They need to raise the exit tax, like right now.

MAGA politicians are about to bolt for Argentina... just look at the money they sent there.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 13 minutes ago

I feel like there's space for reaching across the aisle here. They really want to do brutal colonialist violence against mostly defenseless countries in the global south that have never done anything wrong.

Maybe that's not always a bad thing?

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Well we are well known for invading other countries. Maybe we will make a stop over there to collect our stolen goods.

On brand, I mean his idols all did this too in the late 1940’s…next thing you know is Pete will buy land in Antarctica.

[–] bangupjobasusual@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

Keep him. If you want to do business here you fuck, you’ll pay taxes here.

Yes, because these people are not bound by nations. They are part of a global community that very much wants to keep itself free from global government for, more or less, the same reason bandits operate away from cities.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago

You mean cabal. Ultra wealthy using their power to oppress those beneath them.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Is it really a growing trend... that USA's billionaires are seeking a plan B? I think instead a billionaire paid the author to say so (through a proxy, of course); seems more likely to me.

Billionaires often have second citizenship in other countries, it's like Billionaire 101.

(I can't read the article though so if it proves me wrong do let me know)

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

As someone who is in the process of going through their second full immigration process (first was US), it drives me absolutely nuts that they can just buy citizenship elsewhere. Meanwhile us plebes have to be world class champions to even get entered in the lottery for permanent residency elsewhere.

[–] TrippingBalls@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

Or struggle with the cash to renunciate citizenship. It's the only good Trump has done. Lower the cost to GTFO

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

If they haven't denaturalized me by the time I get a new citizenship elsewhere, I have considered it numerous times...

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 hours ago

Land of the free

Costs ~~$2350~~ $450 to leave.

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 21 points 12 hours ago

Argentinians! Please take careful note of the location, and any underground facilities' air intake locations. When needed we may ask you go fill them with concrete.

[–] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 44 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Why do the Nazis always flee to Argentina?

[–] entropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 12 hours ago (1 children)
[–] rustydrd@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

The billionaire equivalent of a 14-year-old shouting "I'm running away!" at their parents. He'll be back, and until then, he won't be missed.

[–] Solrac@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Wasn't Argentina also going to originally be invaded by the Pziochopaths before they settled in Palestine?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Welp, we destroyed this country, let's see if we can find another one to destroy

[–] Anarch157a@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 hours ago

Can't destroy Argentina any more than it already is.

[–] trollercoaster@sh.itjust.works 161 points 20 hours ago (5 children)

Nazis fleeing to Argentinia before the war is over? This branch of reality is broken in so many ways.

Theory out there: he’s going there to try stuff over there first to perfect it and bring it back. Don’t celebrate just yet.

[–] Prove_your_argument@piefed.social 22 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

They know the US is about to have an economic collapse, possible policitical coup or uprising, and that billionaires’ and their wealth are the target of the opposition party.

Wealth tax is terrifying, almost as much as jail or dying. Way cheaper to hire a huge PMC tier security team and ride it out in a foreign country that will be less affected by the US.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 1 points 7 hours ago

The upcoming election doesn't bode well for the Epstein elite so maybe he is jumping ship early.

[–] modernangel@sh.itjust.works 33 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Made America so great that now it's someplace to flee if you're rich enough.

[–] stickyprimer@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Think of all the job creation he’s going to spark in Argentina though. /s

[–] No1@aussie.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

Yes! The trickle down will be enormous! /s

[–] tirateimas@lemmy.pt 87 points 19 hours ago (4 children)

Yes, mess things up at home, then fly away when they get out of control. What a classic.

[–] EatingOnions@lemmy.world 61 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Isn't it part of Project 2025 to collapse economy so they can shaft it for quick profit?

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 48 points 19 hours ago

Also collapse the current system to establish cyberpunkian corporate city states.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 17 points 17 hours ago

And that after they've been telling everyone you can't tax or limit the rich in any way or they might move and that'll ruin the economy.

Spoiler:

spoilerhe's not going to spend much of his time in Argentina

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 20 points 17 hours ago

All we had to do to get him to leave was enact a 5% wealth tax and a pied-à-terre tax? Shit, we could've done this years ago.

When the revolution hits and its time to bring all of these lost ones home for the feast
