the 'pen' isn't broken. the little strap or string that leashed it to the terminal broke and the 'pen' is now nowhere to be found.

Of course whoever wrote out the sign knew.
Reminds me of penisland (dot) com - looks like the domain redirects to some bullshit now but that was a website for pens.
Pens Land is a great site. If you don't want to be boring you can buy pens there that have upward angles
