How DARE Iran WAIT until after the Midterms to STOP the War Trump Started for No Reason!

[–] BonsaiBoo@lemmy.world 27 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No reason or a million mentions in certain files reason?

[–] pilferjinx@piefed.social 13 points 5 days ago

Better to burn in the fires of war than drown in pedo files.

[–] MrKoyun@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

How dare they try to come out of a war in a way that would cause the least amount of damage to them by allegedly strategizing!

[–] tal@lemmy.today 95 points 5 days ago (2 children)

“I don’t care about the midterms

For someone who doesn't care about the midterms, Trump sure does talk about them a lot.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 60 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If trump says he doesn't care about something, that thing is what he is most worried about in that moment

It's just below the other rule:

Any wrongdoing he accuses others of, is something he is definitely doing himself

[–] defaultusername@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

"Are you still talking about the Epstein files?"

- Trump

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's also weird how he thinks that everyone elsewhere in the world is doing everything in relation to an election that could adversely affect him.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

Main character syndrome. It comes with the territory of being a narcissist.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 75 points 5 days ago (1 children)

"Not fair, they're too smart."

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago (1 children)

But he ACED three congitive tests and won the FIFA peace prize!

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (5 children)

I’m hearing that the FIFA Peace Prize just isn’t what it used to be.

It's a perfectly valid strategy. If there is an outside chance that the political opposition takes control and forces an end to the war or removes Trump, it is in their interest to wait if they can.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Like iran needs to try and outwit that dumbfuck

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

He said 'outwait' but you're also not wrong.

And? Trump uses fake peace talks to manipulate the market. Quite honestly, I find Iran to have much more integrity than the US in this whole affair.

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 31 points 5 days ago (4 children)

No shit, you're the dumbass who started a war without a reason, let alone a good one, after a series of other terrible PR events you were proud of at the time before the backlash made you realize the more your base erodes the more likely it is the Epstein Files will drop.

That's so weird because I'm almost positive the fat pedophile tweeted Hormuz was opened just a few days ago. Could he have been lying?

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 28 points 5 days ago (3 children)

He doesn't need Iran to make peace. He could literally just end the war at any time by bringing everyone home.

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He could end it but not without giving a lot to Iran to get the straight open the way it was before he started the war. There is 0 chance of him getting a better deal than we already had

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Which is why he's gonna drag this out. There's literally no way out of this for Trump without him looking like a loser in any scenario.

[–] RedGreenBlue@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 days ago

He will look like a looser to those who pay attention. There are lots of people with a short attention span.

Eh...

Bibi needs an excuse to cancel Israels elections again, and I believe they're in June.

Even if the US withdrew today, Israel wouldn't stop and wouldn't de-escalate even untill after their cancelled elections.

That also means nothing trump does can get Israel to end the war either.

It's a three (four if you count Hezbollah) sided war, and trump has zero influence over anyone else involved. He has no control and that's why his dream result is "everything goes back to how it was before I started this". In his ideal victory, he gets nothing and he's unlikely to get that good of a deal.

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 23 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (3 children)

Iran has already won the conflict. What's holding things up at this point is Trump wants them to give him some kind of concession so that he can declare victory and, at least in his own mind, look like a winner. But why the hell would Iran do that?

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 5 days ago

I can’t wait to see how he spins the outcome of his boondoggle, and more so how his base contorts themselves to call this a decisive victory.

So all they have to do to outwit this kidfucker is nothing?

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

There never was a peace plan. This was the plan all along.

This man belongs in the kindergarten.

[–] tektite@slrpnk.net 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Absolutely not. He should be legally mandated to stay away from all children everywhere, forever. He belongs in jail.

Says guy who tanked immigration reform so that it could be an election issue.

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I have no love for the Iranian regime that has killed tens of thousands and oppressed millions. But Iran has been strategically ahead of Trump from the start.

They view themselves as a 3000 year old civilization and they will always outwait their foes. The only leverage against an enemy like that is the threat of imminent destruction. It seems that ship has already sailed.

“I don’t care about the midterms, look what happened last night,” Trump said, an apparent reference to the triumph of Ken Paxton, whom he had endorsed, over the sitting Republican senator John Cornyn in the Texas Republican Senate primary.

I mean, he probably should care a bit. Internal GOP estimates suggest they think it's going to cost them $250mil now just to hold one seat in Texas, which really shouldn't be necessary spending, given Texas voter's 40-year record of buffoonery. And it's all because Trump had to be a petty little bitch and endorse a criminal AG for Senate, because he thinks Cornyn isn't “MAGA enough” despite voting Trump's way 99.2% of the time. A record which makes him more loyal than Ted Cruz, by the way.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

which really shouldn’t be necessary spending

The single primary he's bragging about cost 120 million and just pissed off a shit ton of Texas Republicans too.

So it's going to cost Republicans a shit ton of money later, but it's already wasted a lot of their money too

Stop hitting yourself.

Says the old, child rapist as he launches strikes against a country for no discernible reason.

Why no peace deal?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

This guy is such a weak dumbass.

[–] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I thought he didn't care about midterm?

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 5 points 4 days ago

He's stated repeatedly that he doesn't care about the midterms, so we can be very confident that he is extremely worried about them.

[–] tacoplease@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Thwump: You need to get on your knees and suck my balls!

Iran: No, you fat fuck!

Thwump: No fair, you're stalling your surrender!

Thwump is a dumb loser.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 11 points 5 days ago

If they weren't already, they are now.

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago

Iran should do that since he's worried about it and blabbering in a senior moment.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago

So much uncertainties and hypotheses:

  • Iran is indeed waiting for the midterms.
  • Iran is waiting for their hackers team to get the rest of the Epstein files.
  • Iran is waiting to replenish their missiles stockpile so that they can resume the fight and wipe the US in the area.

We can all see the pressure on ~~both~~ sides to reach an agreement. It's good to have so many cards on hand...

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The Iranians already did that once, kidnapping the American Embassy workers, helped get Reagan elected in 1980, then released them on his Inauguration Day. I doubt the Iranians are going to be as helpful to Trump.
