Yes it is hateful. That is absolutely true. It's also absolutely true that this hatred is based on choices and actions, not on a characteristic that someone was born with or did not have any choice over. So fuck him.

So all I would have to say to him is this: You want people to be proud of you, do something that is worthy of praise, you pathetic bastard. And hey! If you can't think of anything off the top of your head, there's plenty of mouths to feed and we can always build a guillotine.

Tax the rich is the moderate position.

It's tax or eat.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

3rd option involves several varieties of removal from the mortal coil.

Financial obesity is an existential threat to any society that tolerates it, and needs to cease being celebrated, rewarded, and positioned as an aspirational goal.

Corporations are the only ‘persons’ which should be subjected to capital punishment, but billionaires should be euthanised through taxation.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Glad this guy is reminding us that the extremely wealthy can say shit so profoundly stupid you have to question their mental capacity. Really drives home that circumstances and greed can and do make stupid people rich.

good to know

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Taxing the rich isn't the solution, guillotines however.......

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Guillotines are too 18th century. We can use woodchippers. Feet first!

[–] _chris@lemmy.world 107 points 2 days ago (2 children)

We can skip the tax and straight to Luigi. Your call.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I might not wait for an answer.

[–] BillyTheKid2@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

I like you already

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

I've said that if I went out and they were guillotining billionaires I would say "Hey, I wanted to do this with progressive taxation, single-payer healthcare, and free daycare, but you just wouldn't compromise, so here we are!"

[–] pipi1234@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The interesting part for me, is that you can clearly infer from this that billionaires consider themselves a different race.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They certainly consider themselves outside of society. Even the sociopath billionaire equivalents of the early previous century had beaten into them the understanding of civic duty and charity, so they built schools, libraries, and hospitals. Today’s billionaires have none of that other than a desire to lighten their tax load and donate in self-serving ways. They are truly parasites on society, they leech off of everyone and cause far more harm relative to the absolutely minuscule few jobs they might create - and even then the jobs only serve to make the billionaire richer.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

Exactly. Even the most brutal lords and rulers understood that they needed to keep their populace placated somehow or there will be trouble.

The Italian warlords and nobility of the 15th and 16th centuries were some of the most monstrous, murderous bastards you've ever seen, but they also bankrolled much of the art that Renaissance Italy is famous for.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's easier to think of them as Lords and Ladies ruling by birthright.

1780s France enters the chat

First tax, then eat.

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Don’t eat shit.

Euthanise with tax, mulch when they persist.

[–] BillyTheKid2@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Narrator: it turned out to be neither

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 82 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

When I say "tax the rich" I absolutely do mean it with as much hate in my heart as any slur-shouting racist ever had.

The difference here is: The rich earned that hate.

Oh, and by the way, there are two options here...

  1. Tax the rich.

  2. Eat the rich.

Your choice, buddy. Which will it be?

[–] BillyTheKid2@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago

Shoot, I mean it with more aggression

[–] kalkulat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Maybe it is ... but there's also some justice in it. At lot of rich people got that what by taking advantage of a lot of taxpayer-funded infrastructure (like Bezos, say). Others got that way by paying their workers as little as they could get away with. Others slowly buy up the competitions then sell shittier stuff for the same price.

When you add it all up, it's clear that they've gotten the system rigged in their favor for a looong time. It's payback time, muh-fuhs.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Hang the rich, redistribute their wealth.

Better?

[–] AnchoriteMagus@sh.itjust.works 67 points 2 days ago

Sorry, Richie Rich, but people don't get to choose their race. You, conversely, could have chosen not to be a soulless currency hoarder.

Nothing wrong with hating a person for things they did voluntarily.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 20 points 2 days ago

Listen pumpkin "tax the rich" is the last thin sliver that stands between you and what the rest of us really want. So take your pick.

[–] iThinkDifferentThanU@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago (20 children)

So treating the rich like everyone else who is paying taxes is a “racial slur”.

When You’re Accustomed To Privilege, Equality Feels Like Oppression

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Fuck his cracker ass....

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

TAX THE RICH!

[–] Sektor@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

It's afraid.

I was hurt by a racism in my worst place: my money.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Just give all your money away and you won’t be a target of the slur.

Wait until he hears about "Eat the Rich."

[–] plz1@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

Luigi has entered the chat

Anyhow ... stiff shit. Pay your fucking taxes, you hoarding bastards.

[–] MisterD@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So being rich is a new race?

Some slurs are worth speaking. "Beat the rich!", "Ax the rich!", and "Luigi time!" are wonderfully horrible things to say.

[–] bomberesque@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Fuck off no it's not
