Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Did they stop once they figured it out?

Surprised they didn’t shoot him to kill the witness.

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

According to the story, they figured it out after they'd put him in a vehicle and were going somewhere.

[–] workerONE@lemmy.world 101 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So they'll go beat the right person now?

[–] Elilol@fedinsfw.app 31 points 2 days ago

YES!

Another man was arrested as part of the ICE investigation in Norwood. A separate video shows agents chasing and tackling the man, who the agency claims is an undocumented immigrant.

This is the beating victim ICE deserves, but not the one it needs right now. /s

classic ICE

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

Gotta get the practice in.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

...then they beat the teen for looking suspicious, probably

The gestapo is above the law.

Please stop referring to it as "ICE". It's filled with Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, and KKK members. Just call it what it is, white supremacists.

[–] meowmeow@quokk.au 58 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They have an official label. It’s ICE. That’s the name that they’ll make movies about in the future. Please use the right name. It’s an all encompassing group filled with all the bad people you mentioned.

ICEatzgruppen has a certain… resonance to it

[–] crimson_iris@piefed.social 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What's the benefit of not referring to ICE as ICE? What they're doing should reflect on the organization as a whole. They should not get to say "well they weren't our agents, I don't know what you're talking about."

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 26 minutes ago

It's "nice" now

[–] Rusticus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

It’s giving white supremacy a normalized name. Most people don’t know it’s all racists. Maybe KKK-ICE?

Most people don’t know it’s all racists.

The Venn diagram of “people who don’t know ICE is racist” and “people who would be okay with ICE being racist” is just two concentric circles. By this point, if they don’t already know, it’s because they have intentionally avoided the information. Willful ignorance isn’t going to be solved by referring to ICE by a different name. If anything, it will only enable the willful ignorance by allowing them to go “but that’s not actually ICE!”

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

Anyone who doesn’t know it’s all racists would love the fact that it’s all racists.

I hope cameras are rolling when the first one gets domed.

[–] crimson_iris@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

But that creates a distinction the people in charge can use to deny what's happening. Now and in the future. "It's a small group of bad apples, most ICE agents aren't like that." Etc. It's all of them. The whole agency has to go. For that purpose, I think continuing to just call them ICE is useful.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Just call them the gestapo

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

idk my dad told me the KKK is all democrats

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

Yes, the KKK were the conservatives.

75-100 years ago he was correct. Democrats & Republicans flipped

[–] Hermit_Lailoken@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

And/or domestic terrorists.

[–] Elilol@fedinsfw.app 5 points 2 days ago

They have already been pardoned in advance by the president of freedom, why are we even talking about this?
