I used to return my cart to the corral, but now I walk it over to the "reserved for law enforcement" spot and leave it there.
Well done for not being a blight on society.
At my local CostCo, there is a pathway that cuts across each row of parking spots. At various points along this path are the cart returns. The path is constantly full of carts, meaning that you can't get to the cart returns. I get way too bent out shape about his every time I go.
It genuinely does. Almost all of us are downright mediocre but all we need to be is a decent person and that's good enough.
You should always leave a cart or two in the handicapped section. Walking from the car to the store is a big fear for old people, and being able to grab a cart right by their parking space to help them get across the lot and through traffic is really helpful.
Always do!

Thank you for your service.
Relatedly, as an admin of c/books, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a book here.
If you enjoyed the TV show The Good Place, and humorous books about moral philosophy, Mike Schur (the showrunner) covers this in How to be Perfect.
Is this Danny Sexbang??!

Daniel Avidaniel?!
No, thank you.

well, good maybe. But that does take away some jobs the store has to fill.
Do you also throw trash on the on the street to create jobs?
I am sorry, but I seriously hate this line of thinking.
It’s such a bullshit excuse to be a shitty person. As if making the cart corral person’s life a little easier would suddenly rob them of job duties, thus leading to a collapse of cart corral wranglers. “If I flush my shit down the toilet, then there won’t be any more janitors!”
This is a job?
My husband used to do that in his teens, for one of the very rare places in this country that don't require some coin-shaped token to get a trolley.
