well, good maybe. But that does take away some jobs the store has to fill.

I am sorry, but I seriously hate this line of thinking.
It’s such a bullshit excuse to be a shitty person. As if making the cart corral person’s life a little easier would suddenly rob them of job duties, thus leading to a collapse of cart corral wranglers. “If I flush my shit down the toilet, then there won’t be any more janitors!”
This is a job?
My husband used to do that in his teens, for one of the very rare places in this country that don't require some coin-shaped token to get a trolley.
