General off-topic chat for the crew of startrek.website. Trek-adjacent discussions, other sci-fi television, navigating the Fediverse, server meta (within reason), selling expired cases of Yamok sauce, it’s all fair game.
This looks cool and obviously very Trek inspired. I really like the idea of being a fly on the wall in an Enterprise style luxury ship as everyone goes about their business (or as shit hits the fan) but it's hard for me to imagine this being much fun without some external driving force causing combat / damage / first contact scenarios and an absolutely huge variety of interactions and NPCs.
Definitely ambitious and tough to pull off, but I'm going to keep an eye on it.
Yeah I tried the demo a few months back. I think an outer wilds like mystery mechanic and a galaxy size map to fly around it taking a page out of the elite dangerous playbook. Would be a good mix of little time constraints and social space but still have a guided activity that can be done solo or with a group.
Oh thanks, I didn't realize it had a demo! That's two new space games for me this week! (Space Haven finally released from early access)
What was that other game in perpetual development called? Beyond Space?
Looks like that one came out in 2014, and was not well-liked.
