They screw us in any way, shape or form they can.
Cashiers are rarely permitted to do anything about shoplifting for what it's worth. When they do (and why you would I don't know) they often get disciplined or fired. And the labelled as jobsworths by the gutter press when they follow "company procedure".
It's basically the breakdown of the social contract, as engineered by a small group of people and then blamed on the rest of us.

Yeah it was super disappointing living in the UK and all the coffee shops and bakeries within walking distance were these crap chains. Often across the street from each other

I still wait in line d for an actual person. I feel so insulted when I'm forced to use the machine and it's constantly yelling to put the item here or did i use any bags like, bitch you have a camera on me the whole time! You yelled about my bags because they where not an item i scanned how the fuck are you now asking me if i used any bags. Fuck the machines.
