Maga would blame Biden

Overwhelming numbers of netizens:
"Finally!!!"

The Internet would be clogged with billions more memes before the first ash falls reach the ground.

besides the huge crater that would form in that area, the ash cloud would shut down the United states for sure!

It would be totally based in the context of how shitty our country has been acting hahaha

Someone else linked to an explanation of why it's not actually a concern, but if you'd like to fantasize about the end of the world I recommend the Quantum Earth series by Dennis Taylor.

When I went to visit Yellowstone NP years ago, a friend I told about the upcoming trip asked me if I knew about the super volcano and, wasn't I worried it might erupt while I was there? My response was of course its obviously very low odds it would happen. But if it did erupt, I would much rather be right on top of it and die almost instantly rather than die slowly and painfully over the next few months or years like the rest of North America.

Honestly, this is comforting.

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I'm glad someone found it comforting.

Can you leave it somewhere else? Why would I want to see someone without acting skills lip-read a scene from something lol

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh wow. You're upset that a volcanologist doesn't have acting skills but is trying to use a medium that's popular to impart information and generally fight misinformation? Cool. Have a nice life.

They're lip syncing to something. Just post that thing?

[–] Quibblekrust@thelemmy.club 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The lip syncing is only 20% of the video.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The first 20%. The link was literally "just left here" so I had zero reason to think the rest would be any different

My point is, if they "just posted the thing", you'd miss the entire purpose of the video! The lip synching part was just a meme introduction to an actual video. It was a mere 10 seconds long!

It wasn't even 20%, it was 10 seconds out of a minute and a half. You couldn't get past TEN seconds to reach the actual content of the video?

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

That's a long time for a 90-second video.

The opening usually sets the tone and I think lip syncing is anti-funny. If I'm immediately put off by a video, the only time I'd keep watching is if someone gave me the heads up it was more than that
