Ah yes. And Twisted Teas are or can be, "hard" (containing alcohol, much like "hard alcohol").
Twisted teas are malt beverages, not hard liquor.
A buddy of mine had them at a football game we went to recently. Awful stuff. Tons of sugar, barely any booze. I'm with the librarian.

Tbf, it's definitely brand based. The cheap ones are, unsurprisingly, well... cheap.
Since it's a study area, probably because of the carbonation sounds and the sound from opening the can.
Therefore hard liquor, being quiet, is perfectly acceptable in libraries 😄
Also, carbonated beverages leave the container of their own volition, which can cause them to spill on books. If you're bringing hard liquor to the library, you're dedicated enough to make sure it gets drunk.
might be more likely to cause inebriation at levels that would result in spillage or vomiting however...
Are people really partying that hard in the library?

We used to be a proper country.
My college banned fast food (specifically Sonic) cups from intramural events. Because everyone spiked their drinks with liquor.
Now, they just bring "factory sealed" water bottles that're full of clear alcohol, instead, after discovering it's really not that hard to swap the super-high-tech anti-tamper "solution". 🤫🤷🏼♂️

must be america. the only country people being entitled telling you what to drink. normal people would just bann food or drink in certain areas. but if its allowed, you decide what to do with your life.

Yeah in all the libraries I've been to the standard policy is usually no food, no drinks except water. Maybe it's the soda lobby which wouldn't tolerate discrimination between water and soda?
University libraries usually have a study section without any bookshelves. Rules are usually more lax there
Does the rule include nose beers as well?
I think it's the opening of the cans that's the issue.
