must be america. the only country people being entitled telling you what to drink. normal people would just bann food or drink in certain areas. but if its allowed, you decide what to do with your life.

Have you considered the other possibility? That you simply suck at recognizing obviously fake shit on the internet?

[–] stormeuh@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah in all the libraries I've been to the standard policy is usually no food, no drinks except water. Maybe it's the soda lobby which wouldn't tolerate discrimination between water and soda?

University libraries usually have a study section without any bookshelves. Rules are usually more lax there

The librarian standing on business demanding to keep the whiskey bottle in a drawer.

TWisted tEA? Maybe? I don't know anymore and the young folk roll their eyes when I ask.

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah yes. And Twisted Teas are or can be, "hard" (containing alcohol, much like "hard alcohol").

[–] sik0fewl@piefed.ca 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Twisted teas are malt beverages, not hard liquor.

A buddy of mine had them at a football game we went to recently. Awful stuff. Tons of sugar, barely any booze. I'm with the librarian.

Understandably. They do tend toward the kinkier side... 🤘🏼

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

Tbf, it's definitely brand based. The cheap ones are, unsurprisingly, well... cheap.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Since it's a study area, probably because of the carbonation sounds and the sound from opening the can.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@piefed.ca 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Also, carbonated beverages leave the container of their own volition, which can cause them to spill on books. If you're bringing hard liquor to the library, you're dedicated enough to make sure it gets drunk.

[–] Venat0r@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

might be more likely to cause inebriation at levels that would result in spillage or vomiting however...

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago

Are people really partying that hard in the library?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 21 hours ago

That's normal stuff for high pressure study environments.

[–] JillyB@beehaw.org 6 points 1 day ago

I believe a twea is a Twisted Tea

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 47 points 1 day ago

Sensible policy. If you gotta bust out the hard stuff for studying, they know you're in deep shit

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 1 day ago

What's their policy on wine?

[–] Soapbox@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My college banned fast food (specifically Sonic) cups from intramural events. Because everyone spiked their drinks with liquor.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 15 hours ago

Now, they just bring "factory sealed" water bottles that're full of clear alcohol, instead, after discovering it's really not that hard to swap the super-high-tech anti-tamper "solution". 🤫🤷🏼‍♂️

[–] Norin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

We used to be a proper country.

[–] flamingo_pinyata@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Does the rule include nose beers as well?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think it's the opening of the cans that's the issue.

[–] ajikeshi@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

just get bottles and saber em open like a normal person
