Complete tangent, why is it English speakers cannot say Kyiv? I mean, I hear national figures say "Keev", that's not the word, it's Kyiv. How hard is that to say?
Same reason as why English speakers say "Finland" instead of "Suomi", why French say "Allemange" instead of "Deutchland", why Swedes say "Helsingfors" instead of "Helsinki", why Finnish people say "Kiova" instead of "Kyiv" etc.
