From Malcom X's Ballot or the Bullet:

"Anytime you have to rely upon your enemy for a job, you're in bad shape."

"You can't sing up on freedom, but you can swing up on some freedom. Cassius Clay can sing, but singing didn't help him to become the heavyweight champion of the world. Swinging helped him become the heavyweight champion. But this government has failed us. The government itself has failed us. And the white liberals who have been posing as our friends have failed us. And once we see that all these other sources to which we've turned have failed, we stop turning to them and turn to ourselves."

"He made a chump out of you. He made a fool out of you. He made you think you were going somewhere, and you end up going nowhere..."

"So today our people are disillusioned. They become disenchanted. They become dissatisfied. And in their frustrations, they want action."

"You, today, are in the hands of a government of segregationists, racists, white supremacists..."

"America today finds herself in a unique situation. Historically, revolutions are bloody. Oh, yes, they are. They have never had a bloodless revolution, or a non-violent revolution. That don't happen even in Hollywood. You don't have a revolution in which you love your enemy, and you don't have a revolution in which you are begging the system of exploitation to integrate you into it. Revolutions overturn systems. Revolutions destroy systems. A revolution is bloody."

"So it's the ballot or the bullet. Today our people can see that we're faced with a government conspiracy. This government has failed us. The senators who are a filibustering concerning your and my rights, that's the government. Don't say it's Southern senators. This is the government. This is a government filibuster. It's not a segregationist filibuster, it's a government filibuster. Any kind of activity that takes place on the floor of the Congress or the Senate, that's the government. Any kind of dilly-dallying, that's the government. Any kind of pussyfooting, that's the government. Any kind of act that's designed to delay or deprive you in need right now of getting full rights, that's the government that's responsible. And anytime you find the government involved in a conspiracy to violate the citizenship or the civil rights of a people, then you are wasting your time going to that government expecting redress. Instead, you have to take that government to the World Court and accuse it of genocide and all of the other crimes that it's guilty of today."

"It'll be the ballot or it'll be the bullet. It'll be liberty or it'll be death. And if you're not ready to pay that price, don't use the word freedom in your vocabulary."

In this speech, he does say we Americans have a unique opportunity to do things non-violently. We did not get unions by being peaceful. We did not get labor rights by being nice.

I want a peaceful way. I truly do. But options are running out quickly. This is not an encouragement of terror or violence. I, like many other want other ways. But as we can see, we cannot control everyone. Some are in situations that feed the violent mind extra portions of greed's injustice. This breeds a vengeful, hateful spirit that even the most noble and moral of humans cannot withstand.

If our world, country, and local leaders continue not to act swiftly and quickly, this will continue, not because you or I will act, spread hate, or encourage this, but because those who are starving for justice will act out. They don't need to browse these halls of discussion to be radicalized. The ultra-rich and our dystopian nation will do that for them.

Choose wisely, work together, and eliminate injustice by any (hopefully peaceful) means necessary.

My two cents:

Yes, that guy could probably habe reached more sustainable success by cooperating with other workers against the system.

However this fire might shake some workers up that without their consent and cooperation that current system wouldn't be working. The owner class relies on acceptence of their wealth and belongings by the masses after all... or, differently said: It takes just one unsurveilled angry worker to turn estate into a huge pile of ash. And there are billions of them.

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 27 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Too many people are brain rotted around union talk, and the last I was hearing the whole starbux unionization effort was still being fought. How easy it is for corporates to make our lives hell if we dare ask for more, we need the resources to survive the fight which is a fun catch 22 if you're not unionized because unions provide those resources.

Actions like these remind the owner class that unions were the nonviolent compromise.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

legitimately, a lot of folk out here think you will lose money (not benefits i know how that cookie crumbles) if they take a raise. because their tax bracket would change. so they turn them down and the people owning their companies cackle. critical thinking is not where they spent their focus.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

If it only barely bumps you to the next bracket, it's not worth it. I had more time and money by cutting to a 30 hour week and not paying daycare, sick care, before school care. I moved to a lower tax bracket and pocketed an extra $20/week.

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

the way tax works, is that only the money that bump you over the threshold is taxed at the higher bracket.

so if there is a bracket up to $100 taxed at 5% and a bracket between $101 to $200 taxed at 10%…

if you made $101 … the first $100 taxed would cost $5. and the tax on the $1 would cost $0.10.

so someone making $100 pays $5 with $95 remaining, and the person making $101 pays $5.10 with $95.90 remaining…

so then there is no reason to deny a raise of any amount, even riding the threshold.

If it only barely bumps you to the next bracket, it’s not worth it

not paying daycare, sick care, before school care

i did mention the benefit cliff, didn't i?

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Go look up the coal mine wars. The owners of companies would kill us right now if they were legally allowed to. Right now, they are slowly killing us. Remember, Unions were the compromise. I hear you that it's a big mess, but when cleaning dishes, rarely does the water stay clear.

The working class calls for aid, yet USA citizens will be watching NBA. This the reality.
They don't care if kids are dieing, or if the middle class has no money.

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

They care if it affects them directly. So... ***peaceful ***ways to interrupt sports games, perhaps?

For a revolution to start you need to be organized and all I see is a lone lunatic putting pictures of himself with a smoking gun on social media

[–] applebusch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

How're those boots treating you? Well seasoned, or did they step in shit right before you started licking?

[–] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works -1 points 5 days ago

Whose boots do you think I am licking exactly?

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well, get to organizing instead of complaining on the internet, or else more of these fools will emerge. And don't you dare say "you first." GO BE THE FIRST. Go get into those history books. I'm disabled and can't. Do what I can't.

[–] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No everyone on Lemmy lives in the US.

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And that's stopping you because? How about organizing people in your home country to encourage sanctions against the U.S.? Hold a Mach-trial against the U.S. To demonstrate the crimes my government have done? Help in logistics in coordinating a grass roots resistance from afar? Sponcer a student or professional from the states that you would deem worthy of working in your country?

There are many ways you can help. We need as much of it as you are willing or able to give. And you can help in ways that citizens can't as you don't have to worry about ICE or disappearing because you spoke out against the angry orange.

-go forth, assist where you can.

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Many people like myself are thrilled with how it's going.
I want the orange to be in charge and do all the damage possible to your violent imperialistic shithole.
You're all guilty and deserve it.
Don't count on sympathy.
You are many many bombed countries late for that.

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I will agree that American leaders need to be put on trial and justice be given. But do you still feel this way about the regular Joe who can barely keep his head above water? And remember, the more he damage he does, the worse it will be for the world. Because, regardless if you personally feel that we deserve it, there will be those who will disagree and will help the regular Joe. Remember, not every American likes the bombings. We had a while hippy movement about that.

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The individual financial situation of the regular Joe is totally irrelevant to the question of being guilty, or better responsible for what the US does.
That is their fault too as a whole, and in exactly the same way.
They perpetually voted for one side of the Uniparty thereby guaranteeing deteriorating conditions for themselves.
Very little to no effort in workers organization and resistance either.
So there are zero mitigating circumstances.
And if you all do that for yourselves it would be fine with me.
Unfortunately that system you keep in place is imperialist and violent and causes death and destruction in the world on a massive scale.
That makes it our problem too and the regular Joe our enemy.
Americans are the most navel staring people on the planet, little or no protest against any war.
And when they do it's purely for selfish reasons.
"Our poor innocent baby killer invaders are dying!" as with Vietnam or "look at the gas prices" now.
Disgusting, zero concern for the massive war crimes they do and did.

And you're not scaring anyone with "the more damage he does, the worse it will be for the world".
As I said, you are constantly at war already under any president.
The fact that this one is especially bad for yourselves and irrational is pragmatically positive.
Many innocents in Iran, Palestine, Lebanon and other places in the world are dying because of him.
Sad fact is it would've happened sooner or later under another president too.
Only with more hypocrisy ang optics. Like the slick war criminal Obama bombing 7 countries at once.
An oh how the americans are nostalgic for their cool black president.

So, to conclude, what is happening now is the best thing that could happen for the world.
The final death throes of a dying empire.
While it may not go quietly it helps that it happens under an incompetent leader and the accelerates the process.
And I wouldn't count on a lot of help either.
IDK what BS they tell you or if you think the world sees you as the bringer of democracy or policeman of the world.
That is not the case.
A huge part of the world hates you already and even your 'partners' which are nothing but vassals will drop you when the time comes.
I feel sorry for the 5% good people there probably are in the banana republic who will have to suffer.
They will be collatoral damage. Also something americans never had any issue with.

[–] Bluedragon012@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Ah, I see, you are preaching the the choir. I agree with you that the US has committed many war crimes. This is why I personally want the orange one gone. I cannot speak for everyone but I'm certain if they could read, have access to the same info you do, or wernt trying to just survive, they would be just as enraged as you are. Many stayed at home in the last election, thinking that there were protesting, but those who know that they need to vote against the orange one sadly had to compete with:
Those who have been so heavily exploited and brain washed that they don't understand what they are voting for. (about 40%) Rigged voting machines.(investigations still on going) Family or job exile. (red towns firing blue workers) Ultra rich exerting thier evil will on politics (cit. United) And as for why the world will help, it's for a selfish reason, if our system completly fails (and it looks like it is) that is a massive power vaccume. Everyone will have a chance to nab up friendly states to align with Thier nations goals and us Americans are so desperate for better leaders that there is a real chance that they join a country against yours. it's not because we think we're the good guys. The armed forces leaders are the baddies, the ultra rich are the baddies. my autistic niece who can't read or speak, who is taken care of by the paycheck of Arby's (which is less than 15k a year) are not the baddies. My grandmother who has lost thier daughter (my mom) due to health issues (caused by an abusive father who wasn't abusive untill he came back from the armed forces) and lost thier son due to him drinking himself to death because of poor economic conditions, are not the baddies. My biological father who died before I was born because medical malpractice was not the bad guy. As for me I'm disabled and it hurts to even physically type this message, are not your enemy.

It is good that you point out our evils, please continue to do so, we need a running list of war crimes and who committed them. I assure you the regular person wants nothing more than peace. But, the regular person in America will not be able to pay the dues, even if we want to, we don't have the money to even keep rent. However feel free to make our tech ceos suffer, feel free to target our leaders for thier crimes, and make it loud so the poor, undeclared people of the united states will hear you.

Yes criticize the guy factually doing something.
He could've worn a furry suit and acted like an idiot playing with dildo's like a true american lib revolutionary.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk -3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's exactly my issue with this person. He may have done the right thing, idk, I don't know all the details, but from what I've seen he seems more concerned with getting the same fame and glory as Luigi. It just seems like an opportunistic arsonist who figured he could burn something and get his fame, not like someone fighting for the workers.

a guy burned down a warehouse a few days ago (pictured) recorded himself saying that "they should have just paid us enough to fucking live" it went viral, and as of my current understanding there are up to 9 more warehouses/store fronts that have been burned in different states by arson. people are attributing this rise in arson to the initial arson done by this man, and people are now thinking its the beginning of a more direct class war, and are calling for similar increases in resistance as well. this seems as of this writing to be a catalyst event for more civil disobediance and direct sabotage by the american people against the ruling class.
