"To this end, while rejecting all plans presented by the enemy, Iran drafted a 10-point plan and presented it to the American side via the country of Pakistan. It emphasized fundamental points such as controlled passage through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Iran’s armed forces (which grants Iran a unique economic and geopolitical position), the necessity of ending the war against all components of the Axis of Resistance (which signifies a historic defeat for the aggression of the child-killing Israeli regime), the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from all bases and deployment points in the region, the establishment of a secure transit protocol in the Strait of Hormuz such that it guarantees Iranian dominance according to the agreed protocol, the full payment of Iran’s damages according to estimates, the removal of all primary and secondary sanctions and resolutions of the Board of Governors and the Security Council, the release of all blocked Iranian properties and assets abroad, and finally, the approval of all these items in a binding Security Council resolution. It is worth noting that the approval of this resolution will turn all these agreements into binding international law and will create an important diplomatic victory for the nation of Iran."

In this plan, America is fundamentally committed to guaranteeing non-aggression, the continuation of Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, the acceptance of enrichment, the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, the termination of all resolutions of the Security Council and the Board of Governors, the payment of Iran’s damages, the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region, and the cessation of war on all fronts, including against the heroic Islamic Resistance of Lebanon.

I don't think this deal will last. At least until his next tantrum/market manipulation.

(Iranian) controlled passage through the Strait of Hormuz
ending the war against all components of the Axis of Resistance
withdrawal of U.S. combat forces
payment of Iran’s damages
removal of all primary and secondary sanctions
release of all blocked Iranian properties and assets

That's a big fuck you Trump from Iran. And apparently Trump had no better options than to accept!

[–] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

We kind of know how Trump sees international agreements. I very much doubt any such deal is actually going to last, especially with Israel really wanting to bomb Iran.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes he will tear it up as soon as he is able to, but even accepting it for 14 days is a huge loss of face for him.
I also don't think the situation will change to favor USA and Israel more even with a ceasefire, that allow them to restock and rethink their lack of a plan.

Trump is trying to push blame on NATO for not helping, seems to me he is preparing to TACO.

[–] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 12 points 2 months ago

If the US leaves NATO, it would be even better. Seriously that would clean up a lot. Also the US bases in Germany are legally NATO bases, so they loose their biggest bomber base doing that.

*According to Iran and even then they just say that he "has accepted these principles as the basis for negotiations". AFAIK the only conditions the US had acknowledged is the opening of the strait.

This ain't over yet and you (and the internet in general) really need to be less ready to swallow whole whatever Iran says just because they don't like Trump either.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

You are right, but the way the news reported it, they made it seem that this was the agreement for now.
But yes this is just a framework for negotiations.

Obama was black. It was therefore obvious that his Iran deal was worse then what Trump come up with /s

He helped the IRGC set up the world’s most valuable toll booth.

It only cost dozens of American lives, thousands of Iranian lives, several multimillion dollar aircraft, the depletion of all our interceptor missiles, and infrastructure and property damage all across the Middle East.

Now the hard-liners in the IRGC have pushed the politicians and clerics out of their way.

Totally worth it.

Don't forget all the ecological damage and massive greenhouse gas releases.
