The Pope DOESNT Represent us!

-People who want The Bible to be LAW!

[–] zikzak025@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Well yeah, Catholics are the "wrong" kind of Christian in the US.

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

My dad is the most Catholic Catholic. I haven't spoken to him since the new pope, but he never accepted Francis because they spoke out against Trump the first time.

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

They have a term for Catholics that don't accept the Pope.

Non-Catholics.

[–] corvi@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yep, I’ve got catholic extended family that couldn’t wait for Francis to die. Seems kinda un-catholic, but what do I know?

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago

Fuck papists, even if they don't like the pope for some reason.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's not so cut and dried anymore. The majority of the court pics of the federalist society seem to be catholic for instance, surely a majority of their scotus picks.

The American catholic church is by and large deeply conservative.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Excommunicate him. Let the Catholic MAGA's puzzle that one out.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That is the answer, Leo should excommunicate the lot of the American Catholic Leadership that refuse to renounce the devil, ie the president and israel.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

While i would love to see the regime and it's supporters excommunicated for their domestic ethnic cleansing and international genocides, the catholic church labelling jews as the devil has not reduced genocide, historically speaking.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Giving the residents of a fascist country a pass because they claim the heritage of a people that was oppressed is what doesn't reduce genocide. Give it a fucking rest.

Eisenhower predicted they would become what the nazis were too.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah, not giving any passes just think there's better wording when that wording has inspired pogroms in the past.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 week ago

Nazis play the victim and you play along huh?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

I mean......is this what the world is now? Someone makes an obvious statement, that flies in the face of the absurdity our government has become, and suddenly the obvious statement becomes the voice of reason?

"Killing innocent people is wrong"

"SHOCKING STATEMENTS MADE!!!"

Is that it? Is that what we're doing?

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Then do something, what ever happened to the Vatican being this badass secret police force. Was that just propaganda and they are weak and powerless?

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Opus Dei (one of those secretive Catholics groups) is behind project 2025. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/apr/06/opus-dei-gareth-gore-pope-leo

He's got some Swiss Guards. They've got halberds and very conspicuous attire that isn't camouflaged at all.

Might as well send them though.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

They also have Sig SG 550s and 552s

Like, yeah they're a joke, but they're also bodyguards for an important world leader and required to be trained Swiss military. It's similar to how the silly guards in the UK are all in the special forces

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Hundreds of years ago sure. Not now, they spent most of their capital raping children in these latter years.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I hate to tell the pope this, but the catholic church is not known to be the good guys either.

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (3 children)

And looking a gifted horse in the mouth is a bad idea.

I fully agree the catholic church has been responsible for some pure evil stuff but if the loonatic launches a fucking nuke like some say, no human will survive the chain of events that follow.

The catholic church is bad. This pope, being a normal human with influence can still help doing good.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Plus he's from Chicago, he has a vested interest with the USA being evil.

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Fuck the pipe and his stupid fucking hat.

[–] icerunner_origin@startrek.website 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This is so good I'm leaving the typo.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't really understand what you're calling a gift here. The only people that really listen to him, have no power. It's a great sentiment, I guess? I'm glad he's calling it out?

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

Idk, its a gift similar to a compliment i guess

Does it really stop trump, nope.

Is the government employee that needs to press the nuke launch button so actually Christian religious they wont because of the pope, i hope so

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You can lead a horse to water but some guy will kick it in the mouth that's for sure.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Here is why I hold such distrust, this dude was their PR guy until 2018 and is from FOX News. Pope Francis kept him until 2018 and then hired the new guy. That's a long time to have a Fox News guy in charge of your PR. New pope hasn't replaced Francis' picked guy.

Burke was formerly a correspondent for the Fox News and for Time magazine, while based in Rome. In June 2012 it was announced he would be taking up the position of senior communications advisor for the Section for General Affairs of the Vatican's Secretariat of State.[2][3][4]

He was appointed vice director of the Holy See Press Office in December 2015, and was promoted to director August 1, 2016, succeeding Frederico Lombardi.[5]

On December 31, 2018, he announced his intention to resign his appointment at the Holy See, being succeeded by Matteo Bruni.[6][7] In September 2019, he became director of communications at IESE Business School.[8]

Matteo Bruni (born 23 November 1976) is an Italian-British media professional who serves as director of the Holy See Press Office of the Roman Curia. He was appointed on 18 July 2019 by Pope Francis, succeeding Greg Burke.[1] He is the first non-journalist to hold the office.[2]
