Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.

People should probably look the guy up before jumping in to defend him πŸ˜… I just looked through some of his stuff and uhh..

Dude seems like a piece of shit πŸ˜…

This could be interpreted charitably, but given the previous one I'm not especially inclined to do so

Where's Beep when you need them? I don't want this artist getting credit!

[–] FlihpFlorp@piefed.zip 4 points 5 days ago

And when the world needed them (for once), they were gone

[–] Frikisada@lemmy.world 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Also there's clearly some spam campaign going on, considering leaving the sub over this

Yeah we are suddenly flooded by this lame shit posted by multiple accounts. This community can't catch a break

[–] Larkas@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Yeah, I used to like the guy’s work, even if it was tone deaf at times. I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt, and chalked it up to language barriers. He got increasingly obtuse, though, and at some point I just stopped following him entirely.

Glad I don't have to be that guy. Yeah, the artist is a POS. Found that out years ago.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de -4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

yeah i obviously don't agree with the artist on everything.

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 27 points 6 days ago

I don't think you should post any of their comics when they have such rancid takes. They seem a lot like Stonetoss.

porque no los dos?

edit: you guys, you should probably know who the artist is before you defend him. this guy has been drawing women as sex objects for years.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 25 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Because it's not immoral to show your body.

The problem with this artist isn't that. It's the transphobic and anti-LGBTQ+ content.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Why would it be good for people to moralise over someone's choice of clothing?

It's kinda an obviously shitty thing for someone to think their views on how to dress are so universally correct to the point of needing enforcement

[–] Nima@leminal.space 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

the irony of this being a conversation about a JagoDibuja comic is pretty glaring, honestly. i do love it.

quite entertaining!

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Well I've got no idea who that is, but if so it kinda doesn't really change the point even if the motivation is potentially a bit suspect

People should be free to wear clothing that doesn't break any laws without getting even a modicum of grief from pearl clutchers, particularly when those people spend their energy on that rather than more real problems.

A broken clock can be right twice twice a day and all that

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

People who hide behind those covers are corrosive. IMO.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world -3 points 5 days ago

I like sexy women, and these are drawings of fictional characters, not photos of real people, so I'm not going to care.

Is it just a regular running gag that that one character always has her underwear showing?

I mean I'm no "church lady" prude but I feel like that's an odd choice.

[–] hark@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Only wearing shorts?! Shameful!
