But they complain about auto start stop.
And complain 15 min ev charging, that rarely happens because home charging does most of it.

no EV forces you to use the manufacturer's electricity, not even Tesla
We should absolutely regulate the way cars lock down software or obstruct the right to repair.
Is that a common thing? I've almost never driven past a Costco station where there wasn't a pump available (usually several). I know the part about "30 minutes" is hyperbole, but I don't think a bunch of cars congesting Costco stations instead of spreading out to other ones is an actual problem that's regularly happening in reality.
Might be more common with the spike in gas prices, gotta take "savings" where you can get them
No, this is not uncommon. I've been to multiple Costcos with very long waits in multiple states. If it's a hyperbole, it's only barely.
Interesting. I wonder if that gets more problematic very close to the Interstate or in very large cities.
I've never seen one without a line here in Chicago. Doesn't matter the day or the time of day either.
It’s hyperbole for the most part. Only time I’ve ever seen lines longer than 5 minutes is in cases where pumps are out of order. Also most cars nowadays have stop-start batteries so you’re not idling much of the time.
Depends on the area and time of day. Seattle rush hour you fuckin bet you might be there an hour
Taking that at face value: does the "to save $2 on gas" part apply at that point, though? I imagine if you're waiting an hour for gas at Costco in Seattle rush hour, the other gas stations are near-equally saturated. Because the crux of the meme is clearly that the drivers are at the Costco when they could go somewhere else with a substantially lower wait to the point that $2 is meaningless in comparison.
(But also, if they are idling, then they definitely shouldn't be regardless of what station they're at. That part is obvious.)
I don't live in Seattle, but the Costco locations near me also regularly have long queues. That rarely happens at other filling stations. There isn't a shortage of gasoline currently; it's just expensive.
I wish that wasn't a problem. There are 3 Costcos within about 30 minutes of me. Every time I've been, all hours of the day, each pump has about 4-6 cars waiting in line to fill up. People will wait 15 minutes because it's generally 20-30 cents cheaper per gallon than anywhere else.
30 minutes is not an exaggeration at all
Better than them e-lectric vehicles. If my car ain't big, loud, inefficient, polluting and running on ancient fossil goo that's totally nonrenewable and expensive to pump out of the ground and refine, I ain't interested!
I don’t think people choose has over electric because of a dumb lust for power, I think it’s because many people can’t charge at home (especially with rents going up and cheap landlords unwilling to install chargers), there are more 15+ year old used gas cars, and outdated worries about range (fast charging has gotten better).
You can charge an EV from a regular household 120V outlet. Sure, it will charge slower than molasses but that's enough for a lot of people. You might only get 30 miles of range from charging overnight, but if you're driving less than 30 miles everyday, that's enough. I know I drive less than 30 miles a day, most of the time. But for those days where you're driving more than 30 miles, yeah you're going to need to know where there're some fast chargers near you, but there's more of those being built all the time.
And there are some good deals on used EVs, too. And the batteries they have now last long enough that there's really no worry about having to replace the battery on a used EV.
With the amount I drive, the 120v charger would be more than enough. But, I work from home...
Where I'm living a car really isn't needed, but the picture of having an extension cord dangling from my third floor apartment down to the road is kinda funny.
I guess AC charging would be rly nice to have in suburbia... Especially when you also have solar on the roof.
Or if you live in NJ and they have archaic laws that state that you can’t run a power cord over the sidewalk (even if it’s on a cord cover) to charge an EV (but something else is fine) so you talk to the town and the town lier has no interesting in figuring something out.
