Damn, homegirl’s arm scarring hurts my heart.

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 57 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah that's a hard realization but they are here and those are the scars of a warrior IMO. Let's be proud of them for the battles they fought and survived, and support them in their battles to come.

Glad they're smiling now!

[–] SuzyQ@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 weeks ago

It hurts mine too, but I'm proud of her for overcoming her inner battles. She's here. She's smiling.

I didn't look at first but that is some serious stuff indeed. :(

Yeah I was reading the sign, then I saw the message on her arms. Looks like she really means what she says.

Dear trans kids,

I don't know what it's like to be a trans kid nowadays. I only know what it used to be like, and it was bad. I know it's bad now too. I hope you can hang on until you can experience the sublime joy of being surrounded by a community that loves you just as you are. I hope you believe me when I say that it's worth struggling for, because it truly rules.

We are in the middle of an earthquake right now, and there are a lot of people trapped in the rubble. If you're trapped in a collapsed structure, you might be able to pull yourself out, you might not. If moving right now is too dangerous, the best available option might be to hold tight, survive, and wait for a rescue team, or for some of the debris to shift on its own. I know from experience how miserable, and long, that wait can be.

Just know that every day you get stronger, and wiser, and more capable, and one day you will notice that you no longer need the people who refuse to give you the love you deserve. You won't be obligated to pander to their fucked up morality just to survive, any more. And that freedom, when you taste it, is delicious, and you all deserve to experience it before you leave this earth.

💓

MAGAs should just accept trans people as another new gender that finds them repugnant.

That's the real problem, after all. If Transfolk somehow found MAGAs irresistibly hot, suddenly God would be super cool with it.

But alas, no. MAGAs are iredeemably gross, for so many reasons.

One of my favorite quotes:

"You are not worse for your association with the world, the world is better for its association with you" -Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer

[–] EonNShadow@pawb.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

"The most important step a man can take is the next one

Always the next one."

Oathbringer is just too good.

I cannot express how badly I wish trans people were not demonized by the dregs of society that don't know any better. Every single trans individual I've every met has been the kindest and sweetest person I could have had the pleasure of interacting with, and I feel better about my life story knowing several close trans friends and family have been a part of it.

Wait who thought it was a good idea to make trans day the same day as April fool’s? That seems extremely rude…

[–] generic_computers@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trans day of Visibility is March 31st

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh ok that makes sense. Thank you!

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It still doesn't make sense to me making it the day before April fools day

[–] fallaciousBasis@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Requires foresight skill.

Trans rights are human rights, and trans rights are non negotiable
