The fools at YouTube have been hard at work circumventing adblock to make our lives miserable so they can make 3 more cents per view. Hopefully ublock catches up.

Fuck these people.

"Ublock" or "Ublock Origin?" They're not the same company, Origin is hands down better and still seems to be working fine for me.

Origin.

Updating it did seem to work for now! Using Firefox.

Google must scramble every day to get us to stop using adblock. How many hours of peoples lives are spent trying to circumvent it..

Ya google tries hard to screw people over. If they put half as much energy into making better products maybe people wouldn't try to block their crap all the time.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

Ha I was thinking the same thing

Breaking adblock even for one day likely pays the salary for several people. They would not be doing it if it didn't pay.

You may think it's demotivating work, but there's a breed of engineers that lives for adversarial stuff like this.

but there’s a breed of engineers that lives for adversarial stuff like this.

I would bet some of those engineers after they finish they work day, they go on to pull an update on Ublock Origin filters so UBo works again.

I'd imagine they have free YouTube premium.

[–] Janx@piefed.social 17 points 3 weeks ago

Yes it does. Update Firefox and uBO.

When it works, it's great!

Or you don’t accidentally download so much YouTube that your IP gets flagged as a bot and you have to sign in for every freaking video.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

For some reason I'm getting errors today with it

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 3 points 3 weeks ago

Use the --verbose flag

[–] remon@ani.social 7 points 3 weeks ago

Works fine for me.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

Update your shit. 🤦‍♂️

Your life will be better without youtube anyways.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

While I agree with you based on what I see normies watching, I'm not a slop watcher. I only watch autistic long form content and listen to full albums on my work computer 😗

I'm joking on the "autistic" part but you know what I mean. Normal people aren't watching a 2 hour video about cash registers, they're watching ai slop and that beast fellow, idk who he is

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Which browser are you using?

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Literally running LibreWolf 148.0.2-3 wih uBO 1.70.0 right now and have not seen any ads today.

[–] Hiro8811@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Maybe it's regional test. Didn't had such problem but I'm also running DNS content blockers.

[–] doodledup@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago

Wrong community. I don't see how this is related to privacy. This is about ads.

Besides, its in their right to make any changes to Youtube that they want. You don't have to use it. "Fuck these people." is crosses the line.
