(1) Difficulty starting interactions with others without prompting

Well fuck, I wasn't prepared for this to peer directly into my soul right off the bat

I agree, i wasn't aware that falls under it. That's a surprise.

Well at least now i know why I'm lacking some magical drive that's pushing people to go and interact with others.

I thought it was just my Avoidant Personality Disorder.

You ever suggested to go along with someone to anywhere? I do not recall. Always figured they would invite me if I was wanted anywhere.

[–] Shellofbiomatter@lemmus.org 3 points 3 months ago

Maybe the difference is where it stems from. Like with avoidant personality that need is still there, just suppressed. But with autism there is no need. The end result is still the same.
Though take it with a grain of salt as I'm just guessing.

Why would i do that? Exactly, because if they need or want me, they will invite me.

I've been questioning for over a decade if I might be autistic. Looking at this list I feel like I have nearly all 39 symptoms (right word?) but none of them would score very high for me. Not sure if I'd benefit from an autism diagnosis.

IMO, what's important is not the diagnosis. Rather, it's the coping mechanisms that you implement to help you live in society.

But those steps can be learned without the diagnosis; medical help is just a big jump forward in learning what to do.

Everyone has trouble with some things, be it neurotypicals, autists, ADHDers... and everyone has to learn how to live with themselves. Obviously it's easier for some than for others, but it has to be done.

27/39. That's kinda nice, some symptoms have most definitely gone "away", more like I've learned to compensate enough over the years.
Mostly from social interactions side, having same friend/social group for years is rather beneficial in learning their behavior patterns.

Sensory side is least effected, but that's probably because it swings to the other extreme end and nearly all sensory input is rather muted, but even that has benefits. High pain and discomfort tolerance is rather beneficial.

Meh. I've taken some autism tests that made me think HOLY SHIT THAT ME, but looking at this one... not so much.

Which is fine.

I think I've mostly built up coping - and whatever is from the severe ADHD I know I have vs anything else contributing............... eh, whatever. heh. I feel like autism spectrum / AuDHD / ADHD people are my people, and also other neurospicy folks of various kinds. My people. <3
