Big brain tech dude got yet another clueless take over at HackerNews etc? Here's the place to vent. Orange site, VC foolishness, all welcome.

One of the solutions proposed — I am not kidding — is “writing scripts to automate repetitive tasks.” It’s really funny imagining a software engineer being like “woah … like automating the boring stuff, you might say?”

If I'm getting this right, they're going to cut the cost of automating everything....by automating more things?

Rather than use an LLM to churn through however many zillion tokens and parameters and do an ungodly number of matrix multiplications, maybe consider thinking about the problem and writing the relevant "if()then;" blocks yourself!

You know, like a caveman (according to these same bosses a few months ago).

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that we’re going to have AI videos that are nearly indistinguishable from real ones within a year or two, but it will take far longer to make certain that it can count, add, and subtract.

Movies just have to match our expectations/senses. Math has to match reality.
