this is great, but because lemmy is so small and there are so many slow or inactive communities, and because sewing is not really trans-specific, I also encourage anyone here who enjoys sewing to also post (or even x-post) in the larger craft and sewing communities like !sewing@lemmy.world

I think there's some trans specific aspects of clothesmaking, because our bodies do not always fit the expectations of cisgender clothes designers, tool makers, etc. leading to specific questions around finding suitable patterns if, say, you're a tall transfem (it me), or finding suitable mannequins if you want to shell out on one of those, or whatever.
So that's why I think having a community specifically for trans sewers is nice.
that makes sense, I just suspect the larger Lemmy sewing community would be fine with trans-specific content; one of the top posters in that community makes clothes for barbies for example 😅
and we benefit from a larger and more active community more than pre-sorting ourselves into many, mostly dead communities
but it's easy to x-post, so hopefully activity in both communities will benefit from one another🤞
cis women can be tall too! in fact many cis people i know find their bodies don't match those expectations either. with regards to discussions of sewing, contributions from cis people could absolutely be helpful for many trans people, and vise-versa. plus, even those who are cisgender may wish to wear clothing that is not in line with societal gender expectations to begin with!
but that is simply my view on this. what matters is you're trying to relieve this predicament so many people find themselves in, so thank you for your continued efforts :)

Thanks! Edited.
I am nonbinary and think of myself as an ally and love Halloween and cosplay and 3 of the 5 grandpas in the grandpa polycule did drag. As such I would like to nominate myself as I don't know sassy something of the something I'm way undercaffeinated right now
Awesome. I recently got a sewing machine because neither "men's" nor "women's" clothes tend to fit just right. Narrow hips, small breasts but wide ribcage, wide shoulders, thin but wide legs, etc. Almost nothing of any gender has ever fit my body since puberty and after adding small breasts and vaginoplasty it only got more confused.
