He's been impeached, three times I think.

Think of impeachment as a crowd chanting "shame on you!". It won't actually accomplish much. If anything, it encourages someone like Trump, who takes great pride in being shameful and hated.

He's been impeached, three times I think.

He hasn't been fully impeached. If ratified by the senate he would be removed from office.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

He has been fully impeached to the absolute maximum, congress does impeachment and that is all.

Senate does an impeachment trial. They are not the same thing.

Bill Clinton was IMPEACHED. Donald Trump was IMPEACHED. Your correction is REJECTED by every available news source and every available English dictionary on planet Earth.

Look it up.

Impeachments have already happened. It's convictions you're missing.

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Convictions have already happened as well. It's consequences you're missing.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Still blows my mind Trump was convinced of all those felonies and the consequence was the judge shrugging and going "well, it do be like that sometimes."

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world -3 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

Let's be real, those "felonies" wouldn't take anyone down, they were a joke. "oh no, you took money from pile A to pay for hookers, not money from pile B." A complete waste of resources, how many millions were wasted on that crap?

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

True, I was thinking of things directly related to presidential actions.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

It’s not so much the conviction as the removal from office.

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 6 points 22 hours ago

All sarcastic memes and edginess aside, I really want this to be a clear, explicit result: Every congressman who voted against impeachment of Hegseth after Signalgate is very much responsible for every one of the >100 innocent students and teachers killed in that school bombing. We knew LONG ago that Hegseth was an incompetent drunkard.

Not to ever say this war was necessary, but I’d have much rathered it at least be handled competently.

[–] FlyingCircus@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

We need Project 202ATE.

Arrest. Trial. Execution.

Impeachment isn't enough.

Not under a two party zio/pedo system.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

That would require someone to surgically implant spines into Republican's bodies.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

Don't put the cart before the horse. Let's start at brains.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 42 points 1 day ago

I think when 50 of them voted to confirm Hegseth that any hope for sane minds among the GOP should have been long fucking gone.

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

It would have been if Kamala won, and somehow decided to invade Iran.

[–] dejova281@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Preach man..

It’s funny how standards and expectations somehow excuse obscene behavior

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

An ears length almost stopped this. Should try again.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

Has he done one thing that couldn't be an impeachment?

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

there should have been MANY impeachments. Ugh. When will the fat oaf just die already.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

There was in fact a record number of impeachments.

[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

This war could have been you guys voting for a woman

*an execution

[–] joan@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

maybe if he doesn't fuck with the midterms and if dems win the senate and the house and he like follows the constitutional law.. maybe we could finally convict him (again)

if if if if

and after all that he pulls a nixon and nothing happens

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

A sad reality is that when Donny eventually dies he might take all of us with him.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 5 points 23 hours ago

Sometimes I wonder if this is what he’s doing already. It’s like he’s speedrunning through the worst ideas and his worst impulses and yet I fear the worst is yet to come. It will take generations of steady and firm leadership, real leadership, to unfuck the damage he’s done. He is a clear and present danger to the world, and the longer we continue to play this game of existential chicken the more we show our asses in complacency that turns to complicity with each day that passes.

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Dead man switch on his hart to "The Button".

[–] dumbass@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

It should have just been in the mind of an autistic child staring at a snow globe.

[–] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

impeachment sounds lewd tbh

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Impeachment won't happen even if Democrats hold both the houses.

[–] chortle_tortle@mander.xyz 2 points 18 hours ago

Even if they did the SC would invent a Major Presidents Doctrine that suspends such actions.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world -5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

No it couldn't have.

It's a nice thought, but both ruling parties support this, even if the voting majority does not. But please, tell me more about this wonderful democracy we have in America.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Who impeached dotard and how did the votes fall out?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world -4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

It was only symbolic, like everything positive that Democrats do. And, living in a country where my eighty year-old parents have to drive for DoorDash or face homelessness, I don't care about stupid symbolic shit anymore.

Nor am I willing to give Dems credit for it. They need to do something useful.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 1 points 19 hours ago

Good to see someone actually understands how fucked things actually are. Sad that most people just eat up the performances.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You didn’t answer the question. I’m watching your lack of a response with very suspicious eyes.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can keep watching. Have a pleasant day.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I had you figured out the first time.
