I dunno, The last time we let Germany march places it didn't go well.
He’s a comedian.
Also, there’s no place for people to pull over.
He's exactly what I'd expect of a German comedian.
I’ve seen some videos of his act. IMO he’s not very funny, his comedic style is mostly the one where it’s shitting on everything. So it’s not surprising to see him picking a situation like this and shitting on it.
Also, there’s no place for people to pull over.
Because USA is a shithole.
Huh? How is there not? At least on the video there is. People just are not using that place.
Exactly. He's criticizing the country, not just those drivers. We keep voting for people who want our cities clogged with excessive cars.
NYC EMS story.
Cab driver gets in a fender bender with a 911 ambulance.
After arguing with the crew and supervisor he decides he has neck and back pain and he must go to the hospital.
A second ambulance is dispatched and, following protocol, fully immobilizes him and takes him to the hospital.
En route the cabbie complains about how slow the ambulance is going.
"Everyone else is like you, none of them get out of the way."
Is he German? I couldn't tell, ja?
Achtung! Snel! Snel!
The stereotypical Indiana Jones German 😁
Kinda misleading. This dude is a comedian and "influencer" (not really in the typical sense but he films a lotta stuff for online content). He cuts filming just as people are moving out of the way for the ambulance.
I ain't saying NYC doesn't have a problem with what he's saying, but I am saying you can see how he's not being entirely honest and he's incentivized to be dishonest.
No amount of dishonesty can invalidate the fact that in a typical german city that ambulance would be going literally 10 times as fast without any issues. Its not just stupid drivers, but NYC is also just a complete failure in terms of road design.
NYC is thrice as dense as Berlin, the densest city in Germany. Probably accounts for something.
Berlin is the capital of Germany, but NOT the densest city of Germany
Oh my mistake, you're right. Was rushing a bit, haste makes waste and all that.
It really doesn't, because in Germany cars always move out of the way. Even if the street is completely full of cars waiting at a red light for example.
He cuts filming just as people are moving out of the way for the ambulance.
You do realize you’ve proved his point? In Europe there’d be no “just as they are moving”, the cars would have already moved by the time the ambulance reached them.
Yes but the American ego..
Bro is the Uncle Roger of Germans
I've never been to New York, but as somebody born and raised in Southern California, lived in Portland, Or, and is currently living in Minnesota, I have never seen this. You always move over to the right. Immediately and without question. In California, Oregon, and Minnesota, at least, it's the law, and you can be fined for not complying.
I live right outside NYC and have to drive through on a semi-regular basis. People generally do move out of the way of emergency vehicles. BUUUTTTT, traffic is completely fucked in NYC. Watch the video again, cars are trying to move but literally have nowhere to go. This happens daily, if you're not out off Manhattan by 3pm your travel time is now at minimum doubled on an average day. Some days its 3-4x worse.
As an NYC resident, cars will move over if there's space, but there's so much congestion that you physically can't move, there's no shoulder or anything.
And there's also idiots who are fighting congestion pricing that helps with these kinds of problems by reducing the number of cars on the road. You can't widen these roads without getting rid of sidewalks which just means even more cars and traffic so the only option is reduce the number of cars.
"No one moves out of the way!"
(Cuts camera as people start moving out of the way)
Yup, but they mostly did not. That's why the ambulance got stuck so far behind.
Also, their making way is reeeally sluggish!
That is just america in general
