Meanwhile I quizzically gaze at the birds sitting on the back of an alligator while it floats in front of me and I mull whether to trust the alligator to support me if I step out onto its back.

American here, and if there's one lesson you should take away from the trump presidency it's to never ever trust Trump.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 11 points 7 hours ago

From what I hear directly from Kurdish sources they are not mobilizing. Rather they are sitting back because they have been back stabbed enough

[–] Uranus_Hz@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 hours ago

Even before Trump there was zero reason the Kurds should ever trust the US. I’m sure they remember being slaughtered by the Turks after the US/CIA abandoned them after the last gulf war.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 hours ago

They cannot honestly be asking if they should trust Trump. Like I refuse to believe anyone is honestly asking themselves that question.

Seeing as how he's sold out every ally he could, the best course will be to tell him fuck off, or to agree something, then take no action once his short attention span has been exceeded.

Oh hey, look, it's an object lesson in why being a reliable partner on the global stage actually matters.

They have Literally just been betrayed by Trump in Syria, the smartest move would be to take the guns and tweet about how great their uprising while doing absolutely nothing.

Actually not a bad idea especially if they had some kind of backchannel communication with Iran where they made it clear they just wanted the weapons and were not actually going to invade because they knew it would be suicidal given that it is obvious Trump will betray the Kurds again.

How could Iran not see the logic in this?

[–] RIotingPacifist@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

We'll keep the weapons in Syria we promise

finally the kurds get the chance to do a bit of betrayal for once!

[–] theolodis@feddit.org 5 points 11 hours ago

They should just tweet AI slop of them fighting

[–] RedMari@reddthat.com 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Then the U.S might just bomb them too.

[–] RIotingPacifist@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

Secretary Drunktank at the department of WAR will believe tweets over his own generals though.

Did you see the "war room" for the Maduro abduction it was mostly social media.

The Kurds have been betrayed by America like 9 times. Surely the 10th time will be different.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Didn’t Trump betray them in his last term?

The only thing Trump can be trusted to do is regularly shit himself.

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 8 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

I trust Trump to cheat at golf while everyone around him pretends he isn't and kids are dying somewhere because of his choices.

[–] phar@lemmy.world 39 points 15 hours ago

Hahahaha trust the most untrustable person ever?

[–] Lydon_Feen@lemmy.world 22 points 14 hours ago

Trust Trump?!

LOL

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 14 points 13 hours ago

If they're smart they will "mull it over" till this whole thing blows over. No point on getting on that trigger happy morons bad side. Just think about it till he loses interest and forgets about it.
