Normal people hate fascists, and fascists hate everyone that isn't exactly like them so that tracks.

The Reactionary White Christian Nationalists are against fundamental human rights; that's what makes them bad people.

And they think everyone who is against their backwards cultural conquest and restrictions on foundational freedoms is an agent of Satan.

Could militant Christianity play a role in ending to the western Roman empire and the American one as well? Would be an interesting case of history repeating itself.

Nearly half of Americans voted for Trump. Those people are bad people. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion in 2017, but we saw the first term and they said yes to an even meaner version of Trump. So you only need 5% of so from the rest to be "most".

2/3 of eligible Americans did not vote against Trump.

The first time, sure okay it's reasonable to not be fully informed.

but the second time? that's willful ignorance.

Solid point, the third that didn't vote means they didn't vote against Trump. They are bad people too.

I just dumb a group of friends I went to school with. That means I have known these people for about 50 to 55 years. In the group chat we had I posted that we just bombed a school full of little girls and that out cheeto in chief say that the mission is anointed by God. I expressed how much I am disgusted by it and they post meme mocking the death of little girls. I called them all cowards and if they are so inclined they need to join up and kill some brown people. They post more bible memes and I told them to fuck off and blocked all of them. I have tried the go along to get long thing with them for years. Here I am at 63 and almost my entire friend group is gone. I feel relief but part of me is also grieving the lose.

It's insane how acceptable being religious on the internet is now.

It’s insane, and ironic, that some people on the internet claim to value diversity, yet show open prejudice toward religious people. If your idea of diversity only includes people who think like you, then your commitment to diversity is pretty shallow.

Take your exact statement you just said, and replace the word "religious" with the word "gay." Do you see how you are coming across when you say that? Do you see how you are not supporting diversity with your comment?

Nearly fifty here and I've lost a few friends this past year or two, and it isn't like I have tons of them anyway. But there's more people out there that aren't bloodthirsty idiots. We just have to get out and meet them.

Exactly. But most of Lemmy is way too young to understand this. Which is why Lemmy is so angry all the time.

COVID really fractured a lot of people. So did Jan 6.

[–] kittykillinit@lemy.lol 9 points 1 week ago

It's a cultural problem. Americans have been duped into getting angry about all the wrong things and built their entire egos around their stances on those things.

This is how the brain worms of conservatism work in a nutshell.

America is a political system in which religion and morality become used by political leaders, “which in turn can lead to great cynicism about … public morality and intense polarization.”

I mean about 80 million at the least yeah.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

More like 160 million.

Seeing Project 2025, all the racist bigoted fear mongering shit, and saying 'both sides' or 'i don't care who wins' makes them just as guilty as the regressive scum.

[–] QuantumTickler@reddthat.com -1 points 1 week ago

Both sides do suck tho. Glad I voted third party. And I'll gladly vote third party in the next election.

There are 330 million of us. There are a lot of them that are bad people. Many of them in office.
