It's wild that you say that. At the time it was seen as trashy. Not being judgy. However, many movies give a lot of information without it being spelled out. Well, the good ones anyways.

Act stupid

I’ve been training my whole life for this moment

[–] Janx@piefed.social 19 points 1 month ago

Cry and sob hysterically at every occasion

Me too!

And you didn't even know it!

Act stupid

Be as irritable as possible without getting yourself into trouble.

I was going to joke that Lieutenant Columbo was fighting fascism, but then I realized that his suspects were mostly wealthy assholes, and so that's really not far off the mark.

cry and sob hysterically

See Dad, I knew my crippling depression would be useful someday and your assertion I should "just get over it" might have got me killed.

Disobedience, disruption and sabatoge at every opportunity is the only chance the US citizenry has to oust the fascists without a civil or world war.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's what people did with the Nazis. It didn't oust them but it did piss them off. What ousted them was literally fighting back.

[–] prex@aussie.zone 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe they just needed more cowbell.

I liked the one guy who set up his drumset outside their hotel at night.

Suddenly I'm having visions of the flash mob trend returning with purpose.

Anywhere an ICE agent is sitting in a parking lot... suddenly showtunes and choreographed dancing, or just a block party, all around them.

[–] Jake_Farm@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago (5 children)

That would get a lot of people killed.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 26 points 1 month ago (7 children)

Would it? I've seen some videos here of people absolutely harassing lone ICE agents in cars sitting in parking lots, and those guys just drove off as fast as they could manage.

If you have a crowd of 20+ people around the car, not doing anything directed at the occupant, just kind of hanging around the outside, plus cameras taking video and actively posting it to social media because, hey, flash mob!... what then?

Not doing it has also got a lot of people killed.

[–] in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 month ago

Not doing it will get even more people killed.

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Know what else gets people killed by these goons? Compliance.

Sure, but non-coward business owners can just tell them to get out. As far as I understand, it's their legal right to refuse service to anyone...

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago

It's possibly more disruptive to give them bad service. Put way too much pepper in their lunch, get them lost with incorrect directions. If you refuse immediately, they might find help from another source quickly.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

That's disrespectful.

Restaurants should offer free food to those heroes for a few days for protecting Americans from foreign criminals.

Then they can release all the pictures they took of them when they removed their masks to eat.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Yes, but ICE should not be able to count on cowardly business owners without their employees being plausibly incompetent.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I’ll just leave this here (pdf warning)

[–] Marketsnodsbury@lemmy.zip 45 points 1 month ago (2 children)

(3) Anyone can break up a showing of an enemy propaganda film by putting two or three dozen large moths in a paper bag. Take the bag to the movies with you, put it on the floor in an empty section of the theater as you go in and leave it open. The moths will fly out and climb into the projector beam, so that the film will be obscured by fluttering shadows.

Amazing.

[–] Dlayknee@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (6 children)

Don't get me wrong - I love this, but who has 3 dozen moths in a paper bag?

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

You don't even have a moth guy? Mine gets me big cecropia moths, he even pronounces it correctly.

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I quite literally know a guy.

Hmmm. I guess it's time to tell you, but not that long ago, there used to be a lot more bugs, and getting 36 moths in a bag probably would have taken less than an hour of work during dusk.

Seriously, we're going through an insect apocalypse.
