Secretary of State Marco Rubio admitted that the U.S. was forced into the war with Iran by Israel while speaking with reporters on Monday. He explained that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had effectively boxed in the Trump administration, taking the decision out of American hands.

“We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action,” Rubio explained. “We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t pre-emptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties.”

Rubio’s disclosure highlights the Trump administration’s unwillingness to rein in the actions of Israel, even when that country’s policies resulted in U.S. attacks that only a tiny minority of the American public supports.

The americans are governed by israel. You taxpayers give billions to israel so israelis can have free healthcare, free university and a raft of government provided benefits. Now american youth are fighting israeli wars. So who is really the vassal state?

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I thought Israel gave billions to us (or at least our Congress)?

And in return we just give them unconditional loyalty.

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Ehhh....not mutually exclusive.

Israel greases congressional hands, and the American tax payers give Israel a shit tonne of money and weapons. Kinda cyclical.

Fighting Israel's war

But they (USA) can't help Ukraine, a democracy that has been absolutely non hostile, gave up their nukes on a promise of help if invaded, and was attacked by Russia that is clearly an enemy to USA, the west and democracy. And now USA won't help Ukraine anyway?!

But they can help Israel against a country that was willing to negotiate?!

USA is a despicable country, that has abandoned all values and their peaceful allies. To support a regime that has been extremely hostile towards their neighbors for more than half a century, and is committing genocide in Gaza. That's the one USA chooses to help!

I wonder how many times Israel has said thank you?

USA, the gop dont want to anger Putin too much, because hes funding most of them and helping with thier propaganda machine.

Ukraine does not have pictures of US government fucking children

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yes that is the problem, Trump is 100% transactional, he stands for nothing but what benefits him. He has absolutely zero morals.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago

Epstein said that trump is the worst person he has ever known. Let that sink in.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

Lil’ Marco, you will never be president you lil’ bitch

[–] ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago (8 children)

I just don't understand what Israel has on the US et al. Like how is this tiny dependent state "forcing" the United States into anything?

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 45 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

You know who Epstein was working for, right?

Hint: Look up who Ghislaine Maxwell's dad was.

They literally have photos and evidence against a significant portion of western leaders and lobbyists. That combines with the influence purchased through one of the largest PACs in the America and it really shouldn't be that hard to imagine.

On top of the threat of Epstein, Trump has spent a lot of time talking about whether he will get into heaven lately. Coupled with the news that military leaders are saying that the strikes are to help Trump usher in the Christian Armageddon end times, it's also reasonable to think that Netanyahu coaxed Trump into thinking if he "helped God" he might actually get into heaven despite the child rape and murder.

That is just stupid enough to be something he would think.

[–] Tehbaz@lemmy.wtf 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Israel owns almost all US politicians through AIPAC. Plus they have komporomat of Trump and others in the US government.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Aipac is funded by american christian zionists who pay politicians to support Israel so at the end it is americans who control israel. The usa would have already claimed officially that the west bank belong to Israel otherwise

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

additionally they have billionaire jewish ceos/bankers funding right wingers too.

They don't have anything on the U.S. Netenyahu and Trump both know that without an extreme intervention, both of their futures are headed towards either a military tribunal or cyanide in a bunker.

It's narcissistic authoritarian elitists with more loyalty and faith to each other than any country or religion they pretend to give a shit about. They're desperate to avoid accountability at all costs and figure they might as well go out with a bang Thelma and Louise style. And we all get to go over the cliff with them because "democracy and freedom are incompatible." 🙃

Location, location, location

The US needs Israel as a proxy to keep the oil and intelligence flowing.

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Christians need Isreal to exist. It is a requirement for their beloved rapture to occur, which they want so that they can spend eternity with their God. The US is overwhelmingly Christian.

[–] atropa@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

Epstein files

They're hiding behind the shield of antisemitism.

The only fully aligned ally in the middle east. If we look at history, arabs have assaulted Europe practically continuously after the founding of Islam. That stopped when modern Israel was created.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He explained that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had effectively boxed in the Trump administration, taking the decision out of American hands.

I imagine that conversation went something like this:

"Do it or we release the tapes."

pretty much exactly this.

[–] IronpigsWizard@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Ah, 2026.

I do not really want to pay attention to the news, given there is little i can do to change things, but everything keeps getting more expensive (Ex: gas, food).

So, you look up why, go down a rabbit hole of news and feel somewhere between exhausted and helpless.

One of my closest friends died during the Iraq War, I was much younger then, 17+ years ago now. It hurts though, an it hurts knowing other people are going to have to carry that weight as well, for those needlessly slaughtered, sacrificed, globally.

There are no survivor benefits and free counseling for friends.

“We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action,” Rubio explained. “We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces,... "

Why would that cause an attack against the US. Am I being daft or is that a huge reach?

[–] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I assume he means US forces in the region.

[–] matti@sopuli.xyz 2 points 17 hours ago

No, but even then. Do Israel and US share facilities where an Iranian retaliatory strike would impact the US?

In my naive view if Israel bombs Iran, Iran bombs Israel back and the US isn't forced into anything.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Netenyahu and Trump are legitimately going scorched earth here.

And don't forget America's bff (as long as you ignore 9/11), but that's water under the bridge right

Push from Saudis, Israel helped move Trump to attack Iran
