Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

she knew that international travellers were being locked up in immigration detention centres in the US. “I was aware,” she nods. “But I never thought it would have any impact on my holiday.”

I paid extra to avoid a connection in an US airport

[–] Technoworcester@feddit.uk 7 points 1 day ago

God plan. Anyone who is still thinking a US connection is a safe idea is a fucking idiot.

Not in my county of interest for many years.

Every week, ICE agents would visit the unit to update inmates about any developments on their cases, and tell them when they were going to leave the detention centre. “Their stock answer was ‘two weeks’ or ‘soon’.” One week, ICE didn’t turn up at all.

They had the concepts of developments on their cases.

If you come here stay to blue states, otherwise the risk is too great.

For now my EU UK friends, stay away.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 14 points 1 day ago

The blue states aren't safe either.

Most of the people ICE murdered were in a state so blue it didn't vote for Reagan.

[–] GardenGeek@europe.pub 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Isn't it the other way round: ICE pruposely bullys blue states (Among other reasons, because the red states need illegal immigrants as laborers) ?

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That's their goal. You can either believe the shit you just said or know that blue states are where the push back is.

Blue states will be there for all.

Liberty

Democracy

Accountability

Justice

Edit

Also HELLO NOBODY IN A RED STATE IS QUESTIONING ANYONE BEING TAKEN OR SAYING THIS IS CONSTITUTIONALLY WRONG! YOU JUST DISAPPEAR.

Not really. The blue states just get more press because they have more protesters clashing with ICE. They're operating in red states too, just more quietly. It's not safe anywhere in the US at the moment.

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

The problem is that if you're traveling here you're likely to be grabbed at customs as you're either entering or leaving the country so whether your final destination is a blue or red state is kind of irrelevant. While the current regime is in power it's safest for everyone to just avoid traveling to the US.

According to Wikipedia, Minnesota's current senators are both Democrat, and Minneapolis' mayor is Democrat-aligned. So yeah, not even the blue states.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Risk high all US

But people willing to advocate and fight for you , you've never met, blue states.

[–] Pricklesthemagicfish@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world -5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I've got more guns than you I know that as fact and more bullets than anything else you've ever eaten.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

They will disarm you before they execute you on the street, like they did to Pretti.

You need comrades, not just guns.

[–] Pricklesthemagicfish@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Did you see that video demonstration of the drone strike from the 1990s? Your guns are as effective as taking your shoes off before you board a plane makes everyone safer. Good thing they didn't have guns at ruby ridge or waco texas... you're the guy who spends 5 years of time prepping to extend his life an extra 6 months eating canned food and being bored because spotify doesn't work and you cant get the joe rogan podcast. You better wake up from fantasy dreamland son.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Lol Joe rogan, you assume WAY too much.

And know very little.

I know your grindr account wont work I reckon that will make you sad tough guy.
