Lmfao for real. Who has seen them say "oopsie doopsie, I was wrong"

What an insane misstep to assume they're capable of self reflection

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They say it...

When they suffer consequences and want sympathy or help. But even then it's never "I was a stupid asshole." It's always "I was lied to." Fuck them.

[–] Dead_or_Alive@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

No they will never say it.

When the disaster that was the W. Bush Presidency ended I had coworkers who had pictures of Bush on their office wall for 8 years like he was their Dear Leader and it was fucking North Korea, claim they never supported him and they were really Libertarians.

They will never admit they were wrong. They will just get angry and attack whatever policy or solution the other party brings to the table.

Yeah, they all knew he was friends with Epstein in 2016, I wager between 60 an 80 million people will vote for whichever fuck the GOP runs in 2028 and they'll vote Republican straight down the ballot again this year as well.

Lmao if they actually gave a shit they wouldn't be a republiclan

I live in Alabama and I work a blue collar trade. I will say, the work banter this year has gone from quieter than usual, to open calls for EVERYONE in the Epstein files to be prosecuted. They were trained for years to hyper focus on this matter from pizzagate, and they haven't lost sight of that. They also realize this means Trump as well. For a decent amount of people, this may finally be the line in the sand. At least I hope so.

In Michigan there are still a lot of trump flags displayed. I haven't noticed any of them ready to dismiss their party loyalty.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 7 points 3 months ago

One of my neighbors is a registered sex offender, and it was related to a minor. He's had a Trump flag flying for years, and he put up a Turning Point USA flag after Kirk's death. When the first set of Epstein files came out that Trump flag disappeared overnight. That Turning Point flag is there still, but Trump is conspicuously missing.

[–] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 months ago

Where I am, a few people around me took down the Trump flag's on their property.

[–] Crankenstein@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Right across the Mississippi in Louisiana here and unfortunately I can't say the same. People seem to be doubling down on the Republican fanaticism.

I've already seen conservatives claiming that since Andrew was arrested it means that Trump is innocent.

Their reasoning is if the files can take down a member of the royal family then Trump did nothing wrong because he hasn't been arrested.

It makes no sense, but that's just conservatives for you

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 19 points 3 months ago

Oh man, not the party that supports child marriage! Who could have seen this coming?

[–] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They couldn't have been wrong before, why would they be wrong now... That would mean having to admit they were wrong, and they weren't wrong

...Right?

[–] treesapx@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

It would have to involve considering they might be wrong, which requires even the slightest care of being right. And they don't care at all about being right because they have a side to defend and that's all that matters.

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 months ago

The response you would get from a republican: "based"

They like that you don't like it and they're doing it.

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 months ago

lol, every republican I know still supports Trump and his pedophile protecting party.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

I don’t think they will ever have this awakening moment, you have to have a heart and soul to feel empathy. Even if they ever end up staring down the barrel of a gun or the end of a noose they will happily defend their pedo king.

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I wish it were true, but i reckon it will be another deflection.

"WHATABOUT DAT GREENLAND?" ...
"ALSO, I'M ORDERING THE RELEASE OF ALL THE UFO FILES!"
..."phew, they nearly looked in the direction of the tRUMP-Epstein files then."

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

We all know there are so much more important things than the leader of the "free world" being a twilighting raging pedo and rapist.

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I mean he shits 'policy' like he frequently shits pants; detrimental, unwanted, and so fowl.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 months ago

They know. But their hands are tied! They have to support monsters because that's how elections in America work. If they don't vote for a monster, then the Democrats win.

There is no atrocity that will get them to snap out of it and vote for someone actually good.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Nah, they love it

They're on the ultra-strong copium of "Trump was just an agent, he's the reason why Epstein got vindicted!", not on the realizing stage, although I've seen the ocassional "actually it's called hebephilia" and "I'm sure Trump handled those girls like a gentle giant" too.
