Rest at ease, friend, you've landed on free parking. Do what you like but be kind otherwise, straight to jail.

Its obvious to me, the community was fine with it. Yes there was one annoyed dude demanding censorship.

Also, if I annoyed you by bringing up the death of my brother, good. Good.

People need to accept that other people want some places that are not full of american politics. We are getting bombarded with it everywhere and it is totally fine when the mods of /c/cuteanimalpictures just want to provide a community for cute animal pictures and are deleting your american politics stuff.

Seems perfectly reasonable. What's the issue?

The one annoyed person had 10 upvotes of users agreeing with them, and for those 10 people the community rules are very explicit.

Mods here at lemmy and any other platform are unpaid volunteers who donate their time. Sometimes communities have stupid rules but you can't be mad going to a place, clearly breaking the rules, and then having the post removed. Well you could be mad but it's an entirely self manufactured problem. And if you want a politics-OK showerthought community then you could try discussing the rule in the existing community, check other showerthought communities, or create your own community.

But this is why i try to read community rules before posting. Like this community i had never heard of before so checked the sidebar before commenting. Helps head off problems.

But I have no chill. Not for this.

Eh make your own community or hell even whole instance with like blackjack and politics then? These guys had established rules for theirs specifically forbidding politics.

You're walking into a Wendy's and outraged they're not serving funnel cakes.

They're saying in actually a very nice way "Sir, we like funnel cakes too but this is a Wendy's and we don't serve funnel cake here"

I don't get where the indignation is coming from.

Here's an actual on-topic showerthought:
"Blackjack and hookers" and "Blackjack and politics" are more or less synonymous considering how politicians are often for hire/rent/sale.

[–] mysticpickle@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Hmmm now that's on topic! Should actually post it there :>

I have to be indignant. Alex was fuckkng murdered. The only thing left is indignation.

[–] remon@ani.social 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah, but you're indignant towards the wrong crowd here. If your boss fucks you over beating your wife isn't the solution.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 2 days ago

The crowd that sees someone murdered in the streets and keeps on walking is exactly the right group to feel indignation toward.
