Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

MODERATORS

This may be a new election but the former president and his allies are already pushing the same old lies from 2020.

Tuesday’s election is shaping up to be one of the closest races anyone has seen in U.S. history. Polls nationally and in the key states show a dead heat between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

People in what we used to call a reality-based community understand that this is a very tight race in a closely divided country and it could go either way, but the story on the right is ... not that.

For a while now, the story on the right has been that Trump is cruising to victory and that he’s way ahead.

According to conservative media, Trump is set to win next week's election by a landslide. Guests on Fox News are predicting the former president will win every swing state and host Greg Gutfeld already declared the election over, “Donald Trump’s got this.”

His cult members shouldn't even bother showing up to vote then.

this is like the outcome when you play chess against a pigeon. Sure you win, but the pigeon still shits on the board like a winner.

A pigeon wrote this

When listening to pundits on cable opinion shows, you hear a lot of confusion as to why the orange turd is saying these incendiary things daily instead of appealing to moderate voters in various demographics. "Why is his campaign doing this?!?!?"

Well, he's not appealing to swing voters because he preemptively needs his base hyped up and ready to burn the whole house down. In his mind it doesn't matter who votes for what. He just needs it close. Let Roger Stone and chaos take care of the rest.

I'm voting today. Make sure you do so in the next week.

Make sure you do so in the next week.

No! Tuesday! 4 days away. You don't have a week. You've barely got half of a week. And half of those days are the weekend.

I voted a week ago. Apparently that was a smart move, because my friends who voted this week have been saying the lines are looooooooooong. Which is a good problem to have, IMHO. Love that people are voting early.

We've known this for a long time... Almost 4 years actually

Conservatives: "I don't even know why we're having the election, liberals just like to waste money I guess."

Ready to kick this Orange turd out of this country.

Torn between jail and gitmo.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Of course he will.

He's a narcissist, nothing is important except that he's the best one, the winner, ...

He doesn't care, he just want to "win".

Is there some way we can convince him he was crowned emperor like Emperor Norton?

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

However, he was financially ruined following a failed bid in December 1852 to corner the rice market during a shortage prompted by a famine in China. He bought a shipload of Peruvian rice at 12 cents per pound (26 ¢/kg), but more Peruvian ships arrived in port, causing the price to drop sharply to three cents per pound (6.6 ¢/kg). He then lost a protracted lawsuit in which he tried to void his rice contract, and his local prominence faded.

Sounds like trump all right.

I bet a handful of comedians plus some fake newswriters could make him disappear from the news & election cycle quite effectively.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Sort of like the movie Wag the Dog, except they only have to fool one person.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Norton initially made a successful living as a commodities trader and real estate speculator. However, he was financially ruined following a failed bid in December 1852 to corner the rice market

Jesus...

"This just in trump declares victory one day before the election"

It should be an onion article but sadly he'll do that

[–] eselover@lemmy.today 11 points 2 years ago

He already started, saying PA is cheating... It isn't even election day and the fuckery has already began, I am terrified of the outcome if he "wins".

[–] style99@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

The anti-christ and the false prophet are here today.

[–] jlh@lemmy.jlh.name 5 points 2 years ago

that fox News video "win every swing state" is from July

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

I'm quite surprised he hasn't already.

[–] rusticus@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Big difference when you’re not the incumbent.
